1. Pretty sure right clicking on an item used to give a map view option?  Now it does not, I'm on release 66.

2. No matter what I select the map view shows all parents, even when I specifically select a sub-item.  Didn't it used to allow you to see only the level from which you were selecting on down?  In fact, if I select a top level, and the next time select a lower level, it prompts me asking me if I am sure I only want to display the sublevel, but then displays the top level anyhow.

Thanks

Hi David,

Little change has been made to that component for quite a few months... And when I tried it here, it worked as expected. Right-click on a blank area allows you to change the display mode (horizontal vs vertical). Right-click on an item allows you to edit or set set it as the map center.

HTH !

Pierre, yes I experience both those behaviors, let me restate my questions :).

1. When I right click on an item in a grid, shouldn't there be a "map view" selection?  Instead I have to get to it from the View menu, which is inefficient.

2. If I select Level 3 in the example below and select "map view", the map still displays every level beginning at Level 1, even though I only wanted to see Level 3 on down.  When a user has a large and deep outline, it would be nice if the map view would only display from the level the user selects, so please consider that as a feature request for a future release.

Item Level 1
- Item Level 2
- - Item Level 3
- - - - Item Level 4

Thanks

Hi David,

OK, I see what you mean.
  1. You can customize the item context menu and add the Map View command to it
  2. You should only see the immediate parents, not the whole hierarchy of parents
HTH !

1. How??
2. I see the whole hierarchy no matter what I select.  I'm on release 66.

lol!  OK, I'll post a video later.  Then you can tell me I'm doing something wrong, or we aren't on the same page .

Thanks for the link to the section on customizing the menu.  I had reviewed that but still don't see where it says anything about customizing the right click menu, only the toolbar.

Pierre, I see that what map view actually does is always show the parent item above whatever level the user selects, with the comment "Item Has 1 Parents".  Now I intended to tell you that since I have been selecting items on level 2, it has indeed been showing all levels, and therefore I was still correct .  But it appears I claimed above that it was happening even if I selected level 3, so I can't get away with that.  Damn!

Read the page carefully. It spells out how to change the item context menu
(hint: click on the Item Context checkbox to show that toolbar. You can then modify it)

Got it, I had been too focused on looking for something that said "right lick".  Thanks again.
