Hey IQ users!

Being on holidays doesn't mean being disconnected from information management news...

What do IQ users think about recent Evernote announcement regarding free account changes and price hikes to paid accounts ?

Are there IQ users still using this service ?

If IQ is to sync with such a multi platform tool, which one would be best ? OneNote, Evernote, Google Keep ?

Hi Pierre. Although I am no longer a regular IQ user, I use Evernote less & less. I have migrated somewhat to Google Keep for a couple of reasons

1. it is simpler to use
2. search is better
3. it will most likely remain free

all the same reasons I have nagged you for years to sync with Google calendar ;-)

Enjoy your vacation. I understand the Croatian coast is spectacular. I hope to see one day soon.

Best regards,

Pierre,
My daughter recently returned from Dubrovnik and her (hundreds!) of photos show how beautiful an area that is - hope you are making the most of your time there.
The effect of the Evernote changes are to encourage me to (finally) move the information I have stored there out for good. For multi-platform use it's OneNote and Keep.
OneNote for work as we use Office 365 anyway and for personal use it's Keep because I'm (trapped?) in the Google/Android ecosystem!

Unless this was something easy/fast for you to do, it seems to me a poor use of your time.  That said:

1. Now that Evernote will only sync with (2) devices (without a paid account), syncing with it would be worthless.  The only reason I used it was to access certain notes everywhere - phone, ipad, computers.
2. Google Keep is pretty much a joke for anything more than stickie notes, so not sure what the value would be?
3. I'm about to install OneNote on Android again.  Last time I tried it, it was still bug infested and would constantly break if you dared to rename a notebook etc.

And how would it work since grids won't translate across platforms?  Nor will outlining.  Without outlining I wouldn't even be able to make sense of most notes.

That said, being able to access IQ from all devices is a huge need of course.  Just not sure what the best way to accomplish that would be without native IQ cloud storage and dedicated apps?

I was considering all three lately, specifically wanting to sync with my Windows 8.1 phone.
  • OneNote only works with Windows 10 Mobile
  • Evernote a possibility but I probably wouldnt use it enough to justify paying the price, and the two devices limitation is too little even for my basic needs
  • Google Keep has no Windows app
FWIW, OneNote sounds like a great product.

I'm curious how sync would work with it and/or the others --
what would the limitations be?

Keep has a Chrome app... sort of like a real app...
