hi,

I have "Assign to Current Grid" checked in the Add Item window, but it doesn't seem to be working. That is, the clipped item doesn't show up in the current grid. I have a grid called "Everything" that has no source, so it turns up there, otherwise it would fall into a gridless limbo I guess... "Assign to Inbox" works as it should.

I'm getting round it by using the Fields pull-down list to assign the Yes/No field of my choice, but "Assign to current grid" is handy.

Are you sure the current grid has simple Source?

Yes, if I'm right about what "simple source" means - the source is just a yes/no field with the same name as the grid... So there are no "special" criteria for the grid that would exclude the thing I'm trying to clip.

Just tried it in another database to make sure and it was the same thing. "Assign to current grid", nothing happens... Well, the item is there, I can find it with control-F, it just isn't in any grids.

Nobody else seeing this? (this is 0.9.86b).

It is working fine here...
Can you provide a screenshot of the Add item dialog ? (so we can see the options
Exact steps ?

hi Pierre,

here's an example:

FWIW I've sometimes had MHT unchecked and had the same problem. As I said what I've been doing is choosing the appropriate field to put the clipping where I want it.

Been trying some experiments in other grids, other databases, it's consistently not working.

(Pierre, how do you manage to get images into your posts like that?? When I try I just get an empty post... )

Anyway. See attachment for screenshot of something being clipped...

Is your grid in the main workspace or in a pane?
My guess is that it's in a pane and the grid looses focus (current bug with 86b)

Here, clipping from chrome and using the "current grid" option doesn't work either. Tried various options, like David.

It works when adding a note (Win+N, Ctrl+N) to a grid in the main workspace.

I think you're right Armando, at least to the extent I understand the business of panes vs windows, docked/detached etc...

I tried clipping to current grid when I had a grid detached and docked over with the other panes (I don't normally use the detached grid feature)... I thought maybe that grid would then be treated as the "current grid" and the clip would go into it. Instead, the clip went into the grid that was then taking up the window in what I think of as the "regular grid space". But it would not reliably do this.
