hi,

Using 0.9.87 but also had this problem with 0.9.86. Recurrent problems when trying to enter data into auto-lists. These are usually autolist of values with multiselect, but wouldn't swear to being associated only with this. Has happened with various fields. Problems include:

  • select an item within the list and nothing happens after clicking OK, the field stays blank
  • sometimes there's a delay (like several seconds) before the value appears
  • sometimes you go in and select the item again and it works, the field is populated
  • pretty sure it's associated with trying to add a value rather than just select one already there
  • sometimes (this is what is currently happening) not only does nothing happen but IQ becomes unresponsive and I have to crash out of IQ with an AppHang error message

Edit: Experimenting some more, I don't get this problem when I enter the new value directly, with the curly brackets round it, eg {value}.

OK this is going a bit crazy. As per post above, thought all was OK and I'd managed to add the new value to the list by typing it in directly.

Then I saw the value I had typed in was appearing in all items.

Then - and this is what really gave me a fright - after closing and reopening the db to see if that changed anything, all the values I had entered into all pull-down lists had disappeared from all items! That would have been a major loss of work.

However all this was going on in the Properties Pane. When I looked at the fields in question in the grid, as columns, the values were all there (thank goodness). However, in the Properties Pane, all these fields (which I have gathered together into a form) were blank!

What is going on??

Edit: Actually, the properties pane for IQ generally is now completely blank, not just those fields and not just that db.

... may as well update this as it happens.

Restarted the computer (!) and this seemed to do the trick - the Properties Pane was no longer blank.

However, I could no longer enter any values into the pull-down lists... Tick one of the boxes, come out of the list, the field is still blank.

Further, I can no longer exit from IQ without using Process Explorer to kill the process.

I'm using the portable version. I've tried clearing out all the user files, so it really is starting from scratch, still get these problems. How could this be?

Did you update to v87a ? There was an issue in v87 with hidden panes and loop that could cause such issues

I've updated v87a with a fix for pop-up lists

Now using the latest build, 87a, 25/11/16, 22:07:14...

The state of play at the moment is that I am able to use pop-lists without freezing or crashing.

However, there are still problems:

  • sometimes a value I have added to a pop-up field does not display in the Properties Pane on closing and reopening IQ. I have to move focus to another field (in the Pane) and back again for the value to appear
  • when I exit IQ after a session where I have used (added a value to) a pop-up field, IQ crashes with an AppCrash message.

Edit: As I am now having to go into Process Explorer a lot at the moment, I was able to spot that there's something odd going on - after I exited (as I thought) IQ, there's an IQ process still running, and quite a hefty one too I think (for IQ), at 12% of my (pretty average) CPU.

That's probably because of the freeze/crash. IQ didn't exit completely. Just end the process (happened to me a few times in the past).
