I start two IQ files at the same time (e.g. select two shortcuts to the files and press enter)

One instance of IQ will be fine,
the other will have display problems in menu, toolbars & (all) context menus:

PS (in case) this not a priority for me, just reporting
I actually noticed this problem using skwire's 'Splat' which can be used to launch multiple files at once:

Hi Tom,

Can you reproduce the issue is you start it normally (i.e. without using skwire) ?
Are you using the Portable version ?

I have only seen the problem when two instances of IQ are started simultaneously.

I can reproduce it, as described, by simultaneously 'opening' two shortcuts to different IQ files. (Select both shortcuts > press enter.)
Two instances of IQ start, one has the display problem.
The two files were both relatively recently created.

I am using the portable version, which is set as the default programme for opening sndb files.
OS is Windows 7 x64

I've seen this only once, when the panes were first introduced.

(Could this be a GDI objects saturation problem? same kind of symptoms. But it could probably be many other things.)

Related to multiple IQ instances:
(this for consideration for release version)

Scenario:

File xyz is already open:
if I start IQ (with open last file enabled), or open the file that's already open -
would it be best if IQ asked:

xyz.sndb is already open - do you want to open a second instance of this file?

(maybe I'm being too paranoid-- OTOH, I have gotten confused by having two instances open without realising: note I have never had a problem with the actual file because of this)

Excellent idea !

In v102:
  • New: On starting InfoQube checks to see if the file to load is already opened in another instance and prompts the users as to what to do (switch, open, cancel)
