In the past I have been able to enter text in a Shift+F2 edit box, switch to another program using Alt+Tab, then switch back to the active edit box in IQ.

Now when I attempt to do this in 91b, the Shift+F2 edit box is gone, the item is no longer active for editing, and I lose any of the changes I entered into the Shift+F2 edit box before I switched away.

I tried different files and different computers, same results.

However when I tried out 0.9.85a, I was able to switch from the active Shift+F2 edit box to another program and back, and the Shift+F2 edit box would still be active, and no content was lost.

Followup.  I just discovered the Shift+F2 Popup Editor under my other windows!

So, when I switched away from the IQ Popup Editor to another program, and then back to IQ, I was switching back to the "main" IQ window, to which the changes I'd made in the Popup Editor had not been committed.  The Popup Editor was still there, it was just under some other windows.

This does seem to be a change though.  I think in the past, the Popup Editor would appear in the Alt+Tab display of windows I can switch to.  And when I'd switch away from IQ to another program and then switch back, I'd be right back in the popup editor.

Now, when I switch back to IQ, I'm in the main window, and if the IQ main window is maximized or on top of the Popup Editor, I have to minimize or move it to get to the Popup Editor.  And from just looking at the main IQ window, there's no indication that I have a hidden Popup Editor active.  I can even press Enter, and enter a new item.  If I then minimize the main IQ window, I can enter more text and click OK, and that text will be transferred to the item in the main window from which I invoked the Popup Editor.

Should the Popup Editor always appear "on top" of the main IQ window?

Confirmed on Windows 7 x64 with 91b

Confirmed and fixed in v91c

I had changed the popup editor to be non-modal (to allow use of the formatting toolbar). It is back to being modal (as it should be) but with a mini-toolbar showing when some text is selected. Cool !

Pierre,

I did see the mini-toolbar briefly, but now I can't get it to reappear.  I selected some text in the popup editor and moved my mouse around, trying to figure what will make the mini-toolbar appear, but I haven't found the secret.

It doesn't matter much, because I can right-click and see a big box of formatting and other options.  But I am curious about how to make the mini-toolbar appear.

Thanks!

Same as in Office, it is semi-transparent while the mouse is over the selected text. Becomes opaque when you move the mouse over the toolbar
But further testing shows that sometimes, it does not show, particularly if the mouse is moved outside of the pop-up editor window. I'll need to look into it

(agreed that the right-click menu does most of the same, even more in fact, except for item color which is rather limited)

I wasn't able to get the mini-toolbar until I opened a field with a lot of text in it (several lines long).  Then the mini-toolbar appeared when I selected some text right in the middle of the editor.   As you say, it stopped appearing when I moved cursor out of popup editor.
