The title says it all.  I often want to use the HTML pane to just type information in.  It always wants to make me skip 2 spaces when I press enter.  I've tried changing the formating between "normal" and several other settings with no luck.  I am sure it is something very simple.  Thanks

You can click on the <DIV> button. This will replace all <p> marks with <div> which do not add extra space

HTML Pane:
Menu > Edit > Use DIV
there's a DIV toolbar button in there somewhere as well
 
Right-click Menu -> Customise -> Commands -> Edit -> Use DIV   ->
  -> drag icon into toolbar
