Unlike my last question about text limits in cells, this is one that I would like to see addressed, if possible.

As discussed previously, I'm working on a project that requires copying text from PDF's into InfoQube.  As suggested by Pierre, I've found that the most efficient way to accomplish this tedious task is to copy a whole page of text at a time, then split it up inside InfoQube.

If splitting text was an occasional task, I wouldn't be mentioning this but when you're doing for hours at a time, any step-saving is welcome.

Suggestion #1: Keep the grid view in the same position after an item is split. After an item split, InfoQube refreshes the screen and puts the currently selected item at or near the bottom of the screen, which means I have to scroll down after each split.  If the item is at the top of the screen before the split, it should remain at the top of the screen after the split.

Suggestion #2: after a split, switch focus to the split item instead of remaining on the original item.  This isn't as important as #1.  It would help with what I'm doing, but it might not suit everyone.

I just compared to splitting items in Eccp Pro and noted a big difference.

Ecco Pro: item splits instantly; there's no pause, no screen refresh, no change in item position on the screen

InfoQube: Significant delay before item splits (up to 3-4 seconds); screen refreshes (several seconds), and item position moves to near bottom of screen.

Hi Wayne,

Confirmed and fixed in v96.

Also, the behavior will now be similar to Ecco, that is the new item (from split) will no longer be a clone of the original item (with all the same field values), but simply a new item

Wayne, you may already be doing this, but here is an idea for splitting up a large block of text into many items.  Insert any text of your choice where ever you want an item split to occur.  Paste that text into a field in a single item.  Then with that item selected (but not active for editing), press Ctrl+Shift+S.  The dialog below pops up.  Specify as the delimiter the text you inserted at every split point.  Click OK.  Voila.  Your single item with a lot of text in the field is now split up into many items.

Good suggestion Jim,

Fixed in v96: if the item is a TLI, source field is not assigned to the created items when Duplicate item values is not checked

Thank you for the great responses and the upcoming fix..  I'll definitely give your suggestion a try, Jim.  I had no idea there was such a thing.
