Pierre, I'm also seeing that while edting a cell in wysiwyg mode, the delete key does nothing, instead of deleting the character to the right of the cursor. Is this also by design? Backspace does delete character to the left.
just tried it again, delete key not working here in wysiwyg editor. I loaded sample.sndb - delete key not working there either. Ideas for diagnosis. I'll try on another computer.
My laptop is the computer where the delete key doesn't work in the wysiwyg grid cell editor. And yes, the delete key is working elsewhere on the laptop, just not in the IQ grid cell editor.
Closed IQ on laptop, switched over to desktop, ran IQ ... actually the same IQ installation because I have IQ portable 96f program files in a dropbox folder. Loaded the same database I was running on the laptop. On the desktop, the delete key works fine in the wysiwyg grid cell edit box.
But what is strange, on my desktop I can save edits to a cell, and move to the preceding or following item in the grid, simply by moving the up/down arrow keys. As I understood it, I thought this was no longer possible by design, and that I would need to press Enter or F2 to exit edit mode. I checked to see that I was in fact in WYWISYG editing mode and I was. Personally I like being able to do this.

This by design (proposed). If you increase the edit window (Alt + down arrow), you can then use arrow keys freely.
I guess I don't understand what "use arrow keys freely" means. But I just discovered (on least on my desktop), that if I increase the size using Alt+down, then I can no longer move to the preceding cell using the up key. Before I press Alt+down to increase the size, I can do so. Is this the way it's supposed to work?
On my laptop, I can't move to the preceding item using the Up key (in wysiwyg mode), even before increasing the cell size. So it's not working the same on the two computers.

yes, I like it this way too.
The up/down arrow keys can be used as Pierre says if you first press Alt+down-arrow to expand edit field.
I was confused by your first post though:
if I use the down arrow, editing ends *and edit is saved* and focus goes to next cell
Are you saying that edits are *not* saved on your laptop there when you press down arrow?
I just tried working in the HTML pane on the laptop and things got even screwier. When I used the arrow keys to move the cursor, the cursor disappered entirely. But after clicking to reposition the cursor, I was able to delete some characters using the delete key. I'm going to reboot this laptop to see if that cures anything.
I disabled a certain startup program, shut down my laptop, turned it back on and rebooted to windows.
After I did this, the behavior on my laptop matches the behavior on my desktop.
Delete key now works - deletes to the right - both in wysiwyg grid cell editor, and in html pane. Cursor no longer disappears in html pane when arrow keys are pressed.
On both computers, pressing up/down in the active wysiwyg grid cell editor moves the highlight to the next cell up/down. However, if I resize the grid cell using alt+down, then up/down will no longer move to the preceding/next cell. However, if I use the alt+up key to restore the cell height to the original minimum, then the up/down keys will move to the preceding/next cell. As I understand it, this is the opposite of the intended results.

as I understand it, that is how it is intended.
I guess the idea is:
if you expand the cell height, you may need the arrow keys to navigate the (presumably) larger body of text in the cell.
In v96g, I've fine-tuned it a little. When using the WYSIWYG grid editor:
Press Alt + down arrow to increase the edit window
If the edit window was increased, cursor keys (up / down) no longer close the editor. This "deep-edit" mode assures that you can move the cursor freely while editing
This "deep-edit" mode stays on, even if the edit window is reduced to its initial size
Press any of the following keys to close (and save) edit: F2, Enter, Tab (using Tab is new)
