Does anyone know how to turn off the dialogue that pops up every time you delete text in the HTML pane?  Couldn't find anything in options.  I'm transferring a lot of text from the HTML pane to the grid, and having to deal with this every time is a pain (I realize I might regret turning it off).

While I'm at it, I'll throw in a couple more HTML pane annoyances.

1)

Case #1:  You have a grid item selected (not in edit mode);  you start typing;  it types text in the selected item
                 You select a different grid item; start typing; it types in the selected item (as it should)

Case #2: You have a grid item selected; you click in HTML pane; you start typing; it puts text in HTML pane.
                You select a different grid item; start typing; instead of typing in the grid, it types in the HTML pane.

I've been fooled by Case #2 behavior many dozens of times and I've finally gotten adjusted to it, but it still doesn't make sense to me.  When I select a grid item, the typing should go in that grid item unless I explicitly select the HTML pane to type there.

2)  When moving back and forth between the HTML pane and the grid, my arrow keys stop working.  I think it's because focus remains in the HTML pane for some reason.  If I go to another InfoQube file or another program, the arrow keys work correctly.  I can "unstick" the keys by selecting the HTML pane or selecting another cell, then move the cursor back to the other cell but neither of these work every time.  Sometimes I have to just randomly click around the HTML pane and the grid until the keys free up.  This happens over and over every minute or two.

Possibly related to (1) above, is that when the HTML pane is open, with focus in the grid, sometimes the up/down arrows do not work.
Alt+Up or down arrows *Will* work
Editing focused item will work
=>
But up and down arrows do nothing.

Not consistently reproducible, but this might work:
move focus quickly between various items using the arrow keys with the HTML pane showing. If any of the items have HTML content, it seems to cause the problem.

@Wayne,
maybe you should change the title of the thread to something more generally HTML related?

Another one: inconsistent behavior when selecting a new cell: sometimes it highlights the cell (correct behavior) but sometimes it goes directly into edit mode.  Right now I have a long series of items where I want to delete every one.  I've been trying to use alt/left-click to select every other row for deletion but every few rows it goes into edit mode when I pick a new row, wiping out my previous selections.  If I start over and start with the misbehaving row, it selects correctly.  Can't find any rhyme or reason as to when it incorrectly enters edit mode but it happens many times a day.

I've been trying to use alt/left-click[/quote]

Have you tried CTRL + left click?

Jon,

Sorry for the delay in responding.  Yes, that appears to work but right now regular left clicking is working, too (ie it doesn't enter edit mode on first click).  The problem comes and goes and I haven't figure out why.

I did figure that if you're in edit mode and select another cell in the same row, it always goes into edit mode.   It's not my preference but now that I see what it's doing, it's ok.

If selecting complete items, a workaround is to click on the first ( # ) column when selecting: cannot go into edit mode then

I didnt know Alt+Left-click worked to select thus (I use Ctrl+ ).
EDIT//
FWIW I tested Alt+click and could reproduce, but could not reproduce using Ctrl key
//EDIT

BTW I have removed the # column from one grid (testing a recent update that allowed that), and cannot figure out how to restore it - anyone know how?

Another one: Refresh should update the grid while keeping the current sort in place.  Instead, it institutes a new alphabetical sort on the item column.  I'm taking notes on books sorted by page numbers.  Numerous time's I've had my notes scrambled by accidentally hitting "refresh".

This should work correctly... perhaps you have source or column sort turned on

Screenshot of the grid header please

Here's an example.  Subitems were sorted on "Seq" column starting with page 000.  When I hoisted the TLI, InfoQube scrambled the sort.  I don't know what criteria was usef for the sort.  It's not by sequence number, item text, or creation date.
(won't let insert a simple image paste.  Will do a file attachment.)

Hi Wayne, I don't see any evidence of column sorting.
There's no filter in the Source sort text box, and the sort button isn't on.
Do you mean that refreshing turns everything off (sort button, sort text box, sort bar, etc.) ? If yes, I can't reproduce it. I might also be misunderstanding your problem...?

Note that if you first sorted using sort bar, sort box, etc., you will lose that sorting when you turn the sort off and refresh/hoist. It will revert back to manual.
(And to obtain a manual sorting that's purely ascending/descending, you can use the column or item context menu -- on a parent -- to temporarily re-sort ascending/descending, and just move a single item in the list, and back again; IQ will record that as a manual sort.)

OK, I see.  I didn't realize the "source items sort" was turned on.  I don't believe I set that and just assumed it was set to manual and the manual sort would stay in effect until I implemented a new sort.

I've got the sort bar up now and have set it to always sort by the Seq column so that should do it.

Thank you
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

In v103:
  • Change: HTML pane: Deleting a large portion of the content in the pane no longer shows a dialog. Instead, a taskbar popup is shown. Click the popup (or do Edit > Undo) to undo
HTH !
