Either clip something from web, or open the new item dialogue and add some content.
Leaving the dialogue open, press Win+N.
The content is stripped out of the URL field and the HTML pane -- but oddly not from the item text field.

I dont know whether this a bug or by design:

(Without thinking about it in advance) I expected a second new item dialogue to open -- I realise this may not be possible, but found the stripping of content (with no apparent way of recovering it) a bit harsh.
What do you think?

Confirmed and fixed in v105:
  • Fixed: New Item global shortcut could clear the content of a Universal clipper dialog
Also related, in v105:
  • New: New Item global shortcut (Win + N) supports multiple New Item dialogs open at the same time

sounds good

Related to the new item dialogue:
could it be independent of IQ in terms of windows? -- currently it forces the main IQ window to the top. I would love to be able to use the dialog above other full screen windows i.e. request is:

Opening new item dialog (Win+N, or clipping from web), would not bring the IQ window to the top, but leave the focus with the currently active window (browser etc) and show the new item dialogue on top.

I almost always work with full-screen windows (on a single monitor) and find myself slow to use Win+N because of this.

Hi Tom,

I remember trying to do this in the past, with limited success. In v105, I'll try something and we'll see if there are undesirable side-effects:
  • New: New Item global shortcut: If the main IQ window significantly hides the currently active window, it is minimized so as to not hide it. Once clipping is done, it is restored

[/quote]this is working quite well Pierre
One quirk though is:
  • open a few new item dialogs (Win+N) -- IQ correctly stays in background if your focus is on a different app
  • click 'Cancel' on one of the dialogs, and IQ regains focus (this only happens with multiple new-item dialogs open)
Would naturally be better if 'Cancel' simply closed that dialogue and had no other effect.

Yes, same here.
