Codejock, which supplies many of the UI components used by IQ, has released a new version. One component which was significantly upgraded is the Calendar.

Two new features worth noting:

Full-week view now supports the same multi-column display as the work-week view (1 column per day)
Timeline view: An endless scrollable view where time is shown as a horizontal scale. At least 3 scales are build-in (day, week, month) Kind of line the Gantt view but without the support for columns, links, etc. but tuned for display of calendar events

A new Calendar sample app can be found here.

In addition, yet another release is planned for June or so and should support days with variable column width and resizable column widths.

(after a long period of dev. related to ribbon-like features, it seems these guys are re-starting to work on "useful" features...)

Looks very nice to me. Really. Thanks for sharing. This timeline view could be very useful.

Do you think any of their changes to the calendar component will be fairly seamless to integrate with the present calendar development, whereever it's at? I.E., will these neat new features delay an IQ version with a released calendar to June 2009 or beyond?

Good question, Keith. I, for one, am really in need of a useful graphic calendar & was hoping it was going to be integrated even now...... or very soon. At least, that was my understanding.

Hi everyone.

For me Calendar will begin to become useful (and I will start a real transition from Ecco) when items which have dates can be integrated into the Calendar.

That, plus some synchronisation somewhere - even if it's to Outlook - so that I can sync with a phone - would leave me with no excuse to stay with Ecco.

maybe this needs to be emphasized... To me, nowadays, a calendar -- or even contacts lists, tasks lists -- is not very useful if it's not syncable (with outlook, google, ipod, palm...). I'd actually be using IQ for almost every functionality that's already implemented and completely usable -- like contacts management, tasks management, etc. -- if it was syncable with, let's say Outlook (that could then be synced with almost anything). But I don't... because it doesn't sync with anything... yet. So even if the calendar is implemented, I won't be able to use it before it can be synced with something in the outside world. This is a super important aspect... Some people don't need to sync because they're always at home. But I'm not... And when my computer is not with me, I'd still like to have my contacts and schedule with me... Without having to "print" stuff everyday.

I agree Armando except I think it's important to find a common denominator for synching . I don't / won't own Outlook & -- frankly -- I'm sick of everything synching to Outlook as tho everyone has /needs this stupid, bloated program. Especially when there is something like Google calendar free & available to everyone. So let's synch to the common denominator for a change.

I don't mind syncing with anything else than Outlook. Except that, as you said, it should be a common denominator. If syncing to google allows me to easily sync stuff to my IPod or palm, then great. If not, I'm back to square one, as I don't carry a google account with me all the time, and can't connect to the internet when at work. So the reason I (and many others) mention Outlook (which isn't that "bloated" BTW, and damn quick... if you ever used it) is that it's probably the app that can sync with the most applications out there. However, I'm not an Outlook fanboy and will stop usgin it as soon as I'll be able to sync IQ with my handheld devices.
