Since we are now using this forum exclusively for all new topics it might be a good idea to start using the Announcements forum to announce new builds that are available for download. I just downloaded 0.9.24. Pre-Release 3, Build 11/13/2008. I started the day using 0.9.24. Pre-Release 3, Build 11/12/2008. I don’t know what is different in the one day later build, but I had no idea that it had been released until I saw another member post about the build number they're using.

Also, please post a link to the download - either the download page or the download file itself in the announcement. There are now just too many SQLNotes web sites to keep straight. (Three at last count: WikiSpaces, Drupal, and the original site where the download page is.)  Changes in each build would help, too.

Thank you.

Jim

  1. You'll find in Mantis, the Fixed on date column, to help sort out what was fixed when. I'll try to keep that updated
  2. The News left side bar of the main web site has a download link
  3. We're in transition regarding web sites. The old forum is now closed, so is the wikispace. 3 web sites:
    1. Main web site
    2. Community web site
    3. Mantis issue tracking (track your suggestions and confirmed bugs)

OK, but I still believe that the use of the Announcement forum - with download links - would be advantageous.

Jim

PS - Just noticed something else: Links in the header of the Drupal site pages (here in the forum and also in the documentation sections) to both of the other sites - Main site and Mantis site - would be nice, convenient. Possibly there are links somewhere here on the Drupal site, but if so, they aren't readily noticeable.

more noticeable links to mantis and the main site would be good, yes. (Notice that they are on the home page though, right at the top.)

about the downloads, versions etc. : the version you're talking about was announced, but in the old forum ( http://www.sqlnotes.net/Forums/tabid/54/forumid/13/threadid/5473/scope/… ) -- no other version was built since the advent of this new forum.  Hence, nothing to announce here... And,  like Pierre said, a transition period is... allowed.

Also, don't worry; the slightly modified version (with the date change) is almost exactly the same as the previous one.

Thanks Armando.

I didn't know what the latter build entailed, but since it was released only one day after the previous build that often means that the first had a fairly noticeable "Oops" and the build released quickly afterward is a fix for that. I didn't see anything saying why the 11/13 build was posted there only a day later.

Yeah, I guess I'm used to an Announcement forum showing all builds/releases as they occur, and then at least always keeping the latest build posted until the next. Otherwise we have to make sure to check the main site often, and currently there isn't much else there that we need to see; most users, however, will probably stop in this site daily or at least once or twice a week.

Thanks again!

Hi Jim,

In this case, there were no functional difference between the two versions.

Just 1 or 2 minor issues related to updating the installed version (installer was finally refreshed, after a good 2 months delay ).
