Computer crashed overnight with several InfoQube files open.  When I re-started this morning, it appears all my settings have been lost and options have reverted to default.  It's my own fault for not keeping a backup of options.ini file.  I'm trying to understand things better and would appreciate some help.

1) Where is the setting to put the grid tabs on the left side instead of the top?  Maybe it's functional blindness but I can't find it anywhere.

2) To avoid future loss of settings, I need to keep a back-up of settings.ini and options.ini.  Anything else?

3) I changed some options, saved, and exited InfoQube.  Why doesn't the options.ini file show that it's been changed?  It stills shows "modified" date of 5/1/18.
Got my answer: the "active" .ini file is in AppData folder and does update.  I was looking at the one in the Program Data folder, which apparently is inactive (don't know why the file appears in two places on the C driver).

Hi Wayne,

I should provide a setting in Options as this is one place users will look for it.

Right now, use View > Layout > Workspace Tabs (Ctrl + Alt + W) to switch between available layouts

As to the original problem (loss of settings), this is strange. It should not be affected by a computer crash. Options are read at start up and saved when closing down the program...
To make a back of all settings, look into the user folder. Use Tools > Help > About > Support Info to find the location of the folder.

Shouldn't settings be in the general section, right above "max tab width when shown on the left side"?
Currently what  is View>Layout>workspace tabs actually doing? It looks like it goes between several states, tabs on top, tabs on left, tabs on top without names, one state appears to do nothing.

Thanks.  I got the tabs back on the side.  I agree it should be in options.  I missed the View>Layout option because I couldn't see the truncated tabs showing up on the left (and that was because I'd set max. width to "9" thinking the "0" setting was why they weren't showing up.)

As an unexpected bonus, I found that you can left-justify the tabs by setting the max. width in options.  I find it much easier to move my eyes down the tabs when they're aligned (vs "ragged left" alignment).

In v109d:
  • New: Workspace: Option to select tab position (top, bottom, left, right)
