Hello.  I'm pretty new to InfoQube and am loving exploring what it can do.  I've tried finding an answer to this but I didn't and would like to know before I start adding all my information into IQ.

The questions are about exporting/printing images but having an easy cleanup/deleting unused image files when I erase temporary items that have them.  I need to export with images.

-MHT would work perfectly for me, since it deletes the associated image if I delete the item, but it doesn't print/export in HTML the images.

-Paste as Bitmap works great for print/export, but it leaves the associated image file there if I delete the item.

My main question would be is there an easy solution that I'm missing to delete the associated item image if I erase that item, or would it be easier to make a note of the "ID Item" number and manually delete that image file when I delete the "Item".  Or is there a way to export to HTML with images using save as MHT.

I've been checking the options and forums so I'm sorry if I missed the obvious.

Thanks,
Larry

It would be nice if there was an option to dispose of unused images but they do seem to hang around even if you have deleted them from the page.

During the course of editing the notes in my notebase I have managed to accumulate many images that are no longer used but they are spread around many folders therefore they are difficult to manage manually.

It bulks up the notebase but I have a large hard disk and I don't want to spend a lot of time going through them all.  They are not doing a lot of harm just taking up a little (relatively) space so it isn't a big problem.

If there is an easy solution to this problem I have also missed it ... unless ... under the 'Tools' menu there is a sub-menu under 'Database Management ...' which contains the option 'Compact' I wonder if this gets rid of unused image files, I will give it a try.

No it doesn't, I just did the experiment.

Inserted an image file, it appeared in the folder for that item number.

Deleted the image from the page and then compacted the database.

The image file was not erased.  Furthermore I discovered that if you paste the same image again then you end up with two copies so during the course of editing a page I may have ended up with multiple copies of the same images in the folder of the pages I was editing.

Thanks for the reply.  I tried that too.  Even tried repairing just to see but I couldn't find anything that worked.

Hi All,

In the next version, I'll add these 2 enhancements
  1. Deleting an item sends the associated _files folder to the recycle bin
  2. Database > Repair scans _files folders and will send to the recycle bin those associated to delete items
HTH !

That would be perfect.  Now I can start adding all my info and use IQ daily without worrying about the bloat of unused images.

Thanks for the really quick response.

Was just doing some maintenance on my IQ files and noticed that this has been implemented and works beautifully.

Thank you very much for the update.  Pretty unbelievable how fast you implement these changes and we appreciate it.

On a side note, I've just gotten all my information switched over to IQ from RightNote.  I'm really happy with being able to do more and also the way I want to.  I like RightNote but can do so much more in IQ.
I still use EssentialPIM mainly for it's sync ability to Android and Google apps,  Although I still export that from EPIM to IQ for backup and to be able to see it in different ways.

Thanks,
Larry
