Would it be a good idea to have a Grids grid - a grid containing links to grids, that I can arrange hierarchically?

As far as I can tell, neither the Manage Grids list of grids nor the All Grids list in the Home Page allows for a hierarchical arrangement of the list of grids.

Such a Grid could be can manually but I'd have to manually add and place a link to a new grid every time I created one. I can do that of course. A Grids grid could have a TLI for new grids that have not yet been placed in a hierarchy of grids.

I think this has been discussed in the past, but since the forum search isn't working too well right, now, I searched my IQ file, and tound this thread I tagged "grid_of_grids"!

I think I had a grids grid a while back, built with Generate grid listing? using access/excel, but I didn't maintain it, as my grids change too much.

What I use most now, is the properties pane "all grids" which can have hierarchy, and has the arrow to open the grid. I just look for the boxes to show grids.

If splitting the fields into folders and values happens Item Editors... what's the verdict ? ), the all grids would even be better for this purpose. I hope we eventually have an "all folders" and "all values".

If you have a Home Page then you can put the code [AllGrids] into that page and when in browse mode the token [AllGrids] will be replaced by a list of all the grids with each name as a clickable link.

I have a Home Page and it is always open as a tab below the document pane but I must admit that I don't use it much.

Hi Jim,

Not precisely what you'd like, but not too far... in v112j:

New: Manage Grid dialog: Support for multiple selections (move, open, delete, copy)
New: Manage Grid dialog: After copying one or more grids, in a grid, an Edit > Paste Special > IQ View will create items containing a hyperlink to each grid. Useful to simulate a hierarchy of grids

So if you create a new grid called Grids, then copy all grids (from the Manage Grids dialog) and paste, you'll be able to create a hierarchy of items, each hyperlinked to a grid.
