Hello, I think I encountered a problem with the disappearance on an item I created as TLI in a grid. I can still find it when I search for its text via the Omnibox and then hoist it : it appears hoisted in the proper grid, with all its siblings. When I dehoist (Ctrl + H), I can't see it anymore. Is there a way to get it back on the unfiltered grid ? TIA

When you find the "missing" item and select it, go to the properties pane and find the source field for the grid you want it to show in (field name is usually the same as the grid name).

If the field box isn't checked, then check it.  If it is checked, then the item should show in the grid, unless you have some filter in effect.

If you still can't find it, try using the column filter (Ctrl-G) to search for the item using a keyword.  Sometimes items are in the grid but your eyes don't see them for some reason.

There may be some other nuances I'm not thinking of but start with this.

Thank you Wayne ! The field was unchecked. I checked it and voilà ! I don't remember having done anything to uncheck it to begin with. Is there a way this could have happened without my knowledge ?

Also check outline views and context parents under the Grid menu.

I've had problems with disappearing items.  We were never able to determine the cause, and no one else appeared to be having the problem to the same degree, so I decided it had something to do with my system, though i still don't know what.

I've started a few threads on this topic which you should be able to find by searching by my screen name.

For important grids, I've started using a backup grid with the same name.  All items assigned to the main grid get automatically assigned to the backup grid.  This allows me to sometimes compare the two grids to see if any items are missing.

I've also considered making every item in a grid a subitem, with a single TLI.  I don't think I've ever had a subitem disappear, that I know of.

My biggest concern is not so much a mass disappearance, since it's obvious when that happens, but the removal of individual items where I wouldn't notice that they were gone.  For this, I've considered assigning a sequence number to each item so I can see if any items are missing.

Keep in mind that in all these cases the items were not deleted.  They just lost their grid assignments and could be recovered with some effort.  Also remember that InfoQube is still in Beta so it's to be expected that there will be issues to be resolved.  Sometimes these things will clear up on their own with later releases.

Hi,

I hope that recent versions are better at this. I constantly make tweaks and improvements...

I thing you can do is as follows:
  1. Say you have a grid with the source set to Field1
  2. Create a new yes/no field, name it say zzField1
  3. For the field Field1, add this auto-assign rule: A:zzField1=-1
Now, all items that are added to this grid will have zzField1 checked.
To find "missing" items, you could view a grid with a source: zzField1 and Field1 is null
(flat list view would be best)

I don't have a touchpad.

Was unable to find any touchpad settings on my Windows 7 system...presumably because I don't have a touchpad.
