After using IQ for a while when I exit the program, task manager still shows an active IQ process. This can prevent Windows from shutting down properly (i get a message that an app is still running and do I want to force-close it or cancel shutdown). I could reproduce this directly after starting IQ, however. Thanks!

I've never had InfoQube fail to close properly but it happens all the time with various programs, especially Firefox.   I guess it never occurred to me that this is a problem, other than being an annoyance.  I know that if Firefox crashes, you can't open a new instance until you manually close the old one that's often still active in "processes".

Virtually every time I shut down my computer I get the "active program" warning.  I just ignore it and let the shut down continue, as it always does.  Maybe it's something I should worry about but I haven't.

With IQ it doesn't seem to affect the possibility of restarting like it does with Firefox. IQ will restart regardless of the 'ghost process'. The thing is it didn't used to happen or it least it didn't stop Windows from shutting down until maybe 6-8 weeks ago (not sure which update). I often click shutdown then leave room and now it often happens that the PC ends up running nonetheless.

Hi !

Most likely this is because a process is locked somehow. Check the task manager, there must be 2 IQ processes running. Which version are you using ?

Sorry, I made a stupid mistake in my first post. Meant to write "I could NOT reproduce this directly after starting IQ."

I'm currently still on 112n, portable mode.

After starting IQ, it shows up in Task Manager under 'Apps' with two sub-processes ('InfoQube.exe' and 'Print driver host for applications'). It does not show up under 'Background processes' in TM.

Edit: Just checked again. Now it shiows up under 'Apps' as a single entry with the name of IQ's window caption. Still nothing under 'Processes'.

I'll observe some more to try to pinpoint when the problem occurs...

Hi,
I have seen this on one PC when changing the screen scaling, it also caused long IQ program load times. The second time does not show it. I could not find a fix for it, but it is related to print drivers

Perhaps this can help:

What is your default printer ?

Thanks a lot, Pierre! Do you charge for this kind of research?

Just had the problem happen again, with an IQ background process and the App closed.

My default printer driver is by Kyocera, but the problem has only started to occur very recently. Are you suggesting an under-the-hood printer driver Windows update was the culprit?

Should I try changing my default driver to Microsoft PDF to test out your theory?

Cheers
