Several oddities have popped up that I've been unable to fix:
 
1) "WYSIWYG" option is grayed out in column menu
 
2) "Show HTML codes" option is grayed out in column menu
 
3) When I edit multi-line text in a grid cell:
   a) Text changes to a single-line that disappears at the right cell border
   b) Scroll bar appears on the right side of the cell
   c) Clicking on the scroll bar opens a filter dialogue (!?)
 
I thought (3) was somehow related to (1) but in other files WSYIWYG option does not cause (3) behavior.
 
Occurs in only one file.  Tried rebooting.   Menu settings are identical to files that work.

have you tried:
menu: Tools >Manage Database >Other >Repair
 
Dont think I've ever had problems with repair but would make sure to have a backup before using it -- to be on the safe side.

Didn't do anything.  I presume a repair was done.  I never get any message about the repair being in progress or having completed.  The dialogue just goes away and after a while I assume something happened.

Little surprise that the solution was simple and embarrassing.
 
The item field properties had somehow gotten changed from text box to pop-up.  I checked the field settings several times but for some reason that didn't register with me.
 
I definitely did not make this change on purpose.  There must be some keyboard shortcut combination that can do it.  I often hit the wrong key when executing a shortcut and get unwanted results.
