I've tried most of the mht file editing softwares I could find online:
 
WizHtmlEditor: crashes whenever I try to save the mht file (I'm using Windows 10)
html-notepad (from the new website that the url httes://blocknote.net led me to): does not sync well with the html file in IQ, e.g. the html file doesn't show the image inserted in the mht file
Blocknote.Net: perfectly fine, though it took me a while to find the installation file from some other websites
 
Libreoffice writer doesn't work either. Though fortunately from elsewhere I finally found the software (ver. 1.8) which is no longer available in its website, it has not been updated for years. Just hope it doesn't have any bugs in the future. Is it the only free and viable mht editor that the user doesn't need to bother about all the stuffs about programming?

Download and install any of these free MHT editors and enter the paths in Tools > Options > General > Document pane > MS Word / Alternate MHT Editor:
Andrew Fedoniouk, who developed BlockNote, also develops HTML-Notepad - see here - https://terrainformatica.com/about/ .  The BlockNote link now redirects to https://html-notepad.com/ , but I was able to download BlockNote using Pierre's "local copy" link above.
 
The link for Kingsoft Write Free 2013 now redirects to https://www.wps.com/ .  You might want to try one of the programs listed at https://www.wps.com/download - I haven't tried any of them yet.  I looked for a link that will actually download "Kingsoft Writer Free 2013", haven't found it yet - but I did was able to download from here - https://raymondcc.r.worldssl.net/KingsoftOfficePortable_2012_English.pa… .  I haven't tried any of them yet.

Thanks jimspoon! BlockNote works well for me! I missed that part of the user manual and so didnt know there's a local copy here. I'm concerned about ads and security of using Kingsoft's software so will try it when BlockNote doesn't work.
