I've been organizing fields under new field headers in the properties pane.  I created a number of headers that all begin with "AA" so they'll be at the top of the list.

After working for a while with no problem, most of the AA fields somehow got moved to the bottom of the list. ("AA" fields now come after "Y").

How do I force a re-sort of the field list?  Screen refresh and switching between list and outline view does nothing.

Closing and re-opening the file worked but it's not an ideal solution.

Also: adding multi-select would be nice.  The trick of moving items under other items to move them around does help but there's still a lot of fussing with individual selections after you reach your destination.

Also-2: add expand/collapse keyboard shortcuts like you have in the grid.

Tip:  if you're gathering and moving individual fields to put them under a topic header, instead of moving the fields to the header, move the header down the list and add the appropriate fields as you come to them.

Hey Wayne. Clicking on the Fields header in the pane caused the fields to be re-sorted for me after renaming some of them.

Thanks a lot by the way for giving me this idea in the first place. It is much more convenient now with my most important fields at the top of the list!

You're talking about the "All Fields" tab at the top, right?  Clicking it expands and collapses the field list but does not sort it for me.

Sometimes, clicking on a different item in the grid causes the field list to sort but it's not reliable.  I'm repeatedly getting fields that end up at the bottom of the list when they shouldn't be.  Then a while later, they've sorted themselves back to the right position.  I just haven't found a reliable way to make it happen on my own.

Yes, that's the area I meant, but I just realized that you have to click on the little symbol on the right of the tab (the one that switches between 2D and hierarchical view) to get the re-sort to happen. Steps to reproduce: use Manage field dialog to rename e.g. field Check to Echeck, save and close, field remains in same position in prop.pane, now click on the symbol in the 'All fields' tab / button once (maybe twice if first time doesn't work). Voila, field is now moved to its correct alphabetical position, e.g. below any fields starting with D.

I'll try to reproduce it and provide a fix

Hi Wayne,
  1. Sorting: Should be fixed in v114i
  2. Multi-select: It's on the list
  3. Expand/Collapse shortcuts: Save as grid: Ctrl+left/right
