It's not that I'm not very happy with InfoQube and how it's progressing. I just got very intrigued with the Android Orgzly app, a 'blood relative' of Org-Mode. I also sometimes think that InfoQube is sort of overkill for 90% of the stuff I do with it, which might be done in a more snappy fashion with Org-Mode...

Are there any Org-Mode-to-IQ-converts here?

Thanks!

I have used Org-Mode in the past on a PC, I don't know anything about the Android version.

Org-Mode uses a markup language within the pages to define links and implement features in a way very similar to ConnectedText except the markup language is different.

InfoQube is really good and does everything I need it to do however it is complicated.

To a new user this can seem overwhelming.  This is why IQ is not as popular as it could be.  New users try it and after a week or two they give up and go to something simpler.

One of the reasons for this is that Pierre adds all the features anyone asks for if it is practical to do so.  There is so much functionality packed in there that it cannot be simple.  It is very powerful but not simple.

One of the good things about IQ is the fact that the interface can be customised.  If you don't need or use a particular feature you can remove the icons and menu entries thus removing some of the clutter.

I last dabbled in emacs, including org-mode several times, the last time being 6 or 7 years ago. I never did get the hang of the keystroke gymnastics.

Go ahead and play! Who knows, you may find some awesome things there that IQ could get eventually. Please save some time for IQ of course!

Maybe there is an "overkill" factor, but overall, I haven't found anything as configurable and fun as IQ. It does have a lot of horsepower, but I'd rather have too much than not enough.

I think it's okay to use more than one program. I still use onenote 2016 and stickies and ultraedit,  paper and pen and simplenote and google tasks and gtasks for desktop to gather, slice and dice, sync from the phone, etc. Most of it ends up in IQ.

I think plain text sounds great in theory, but in practice I still like my pictures. I do wonder sometimes about the longevity of the MHT file format though.

Personally I think you're going to spend a lot of hours to get your org mode proficiency up to your IQ proficiency.

If you have a usage case for which you need more "snappy", please post.

Thank you very much for your insight, Keith! Well, my mind is made up that I will invest a certain amount of time into getting the hang of Org Mode. Like you I hope, I will learn to use IQ more efficiently in the process or maybe find a sensible combination of how to use both in parallel. Anyway, it will be an extremely nerdy path to go down but should also be great fun. The main problem will be finding the necessary time. Even getting Spacemacs and Org Mode installed on Windows seem anything but trivial. We'll see, I'll certainly report back on my progress if anyone's interested.

I don't want to talk you out of Org-Mode any more than I'd want to talk you out of using a horse and buggy. If that's what makes you happy....

I'd rather go up a mountain path with a donkey than a lorry... Still, it may turn out you are entirely correct!
