Using 115.  I made a new TLI in my "Notes1" grid (source is Notes1 checkmark field).  Later I noticed that the Notes1 field had not been checked for that TLI; however, in the Properties Pane "Basic" section I see Home = Notes1. When I tried to open the synced file on my desktop, the new TLI did not show up in my Notes1 grid.

I went to Tools > Manage Grids to see the settings for my Notes1 grid.  The edit box "Auto-assign field list for all top level items (TLI) added in this grid" is empty for my Notes1 grid and all other grids, even after I downgraded to 115Pre1.  I'd try an earlier version but then I remember the database was updated recently (change in field numbers?) and I don't want to open up my updated database with an IQ version that is not aware of the new assignments.

Since the downgrade to 115Pre1 didn't fix it, I'm starting to wonder if my database is corrupt in some way.

Hi Jim,
  1. Can you report back the Notes1 field ID and field type. I suspect that this is linked to the change in v115
  2. Also, do you have a Notes field and if yes, it's type and field ID ?
  3. What IQ version were you using just before doing the v115 upgrade ?
  4. Finally, try to change the grid source to see if TLI assignment  works correctly

 Hi Pierre,

Thanks so much for your reply!

1.  Notes1 field is Yes/No, ID 372.
2.  Notes field is Text, ID 19.
3.  I upgraded from 114s to 115Pre1 to 115Pre3 to 115.  I only noticed the problem as of today.  Not sure if I was still on 115Pre3 on my laptop or 115.  I upgrade desktop from 115Pre1 to 115 today.
4.  Using 115Pre1 (I copied 115Pre1 portable program files over 115), I made a Notes grid with Notes field source.  Entered a TLI in Notes grid.  Home field in Basic section is Empty.  Notes field not marked as checked.  "Auto assign field list" box in Manage Grids is empty.

UPDATE: well the Notes field didn't appear in the Values list because it's a text field and I didn't put any text into it.  I redid the test in another way.  I made a new yes/no field named Testyesno.  Made a new grid with testyesno as source.  Entered a new TLI is testyesno grid.  The new item was assigned to testyesno field as it should be.  Auto-assign fields list still is empty, i guess that is normal when there is only one field in source.

  1. Strange... let me look into this
  2. Notes field is 19 ? It should be 49, can you double check ?
Regarding the Auto-assign grid property, it looks like a bug, it is always empty. I'll fix that

 Notes field ID is 19!

On my IQ the field with ID 49 is Scheduling (Yes/No).

This must be some old file and an Ecco imported one...

UPDATE: I changed the Source for my Notes1 grid from Notes1 to TestYesNo, and entered a new item.  The TestYesNo field was assigned.  Then I changed the source back to Notes1, and created a new item.  Notes1 was assigned.  Fixed now maybe?

Perhaps do a database repair too. Never hurts to do some housekeeping once in a while !
