I've been running two instances of a file and have gotten an error message that I don't know how to respond to.

1) When I went to an open tab, all grid columns were gone except the item column.
2) When I refresh the grid, I get this error message=

"Error while saving grid Books. The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

What caused it?  What should I do?  What can I do to prevent it from happening again?

It's not just a matter of reloading the column set because I have hidden columns and grouped columns that are not saved so I definitely don't want to be running into this repeatedly if I can help it.

Appears to be just the one grid.  Closing one instance did not resolve it.  Re-started the file but the columns are still gone (but the error message did go away).  Closing and re-opening the grid failed to find columns.

Hi Wayne,

Seems like a network issue. Are your files on a local drive ?

All files are on local drives (one drive for working files, another drive for backups)
and are not accessed or used elsewhere.

Has there been a change in how InfoQube handles multiple instances in v0.9.115d?  I am used to opening two databases side by side.  I've just downloaded the latest version, and now it closes one database each time I open another one, so I can only have one open at time. This applies to both InfoQube IM and InfoQube Outliner.

Is there an option to go back to the old behaviour?

Thanks!

 It changed at v0.9.115c.
Even clicking "Welcome to InfoQube" opens that file and closes your file A.
File Open>A, then File Open>B closes file A and opens B.
I am able to start up a new instance of InfoQube from the start menu, then file open a second file. I also tried a new instance, and file open the same file, and it appears it opened it properly.

Thank you, KeithB, for clarifying.

Question for the community: what is the benefit of the new behaviour? Does it increase the program stability?

For me, it means an extra action to open a second instance then choose a file, for example because I am always referring to the Welcome database (still learning a lot), or I want to copy something between databases. It's a bit like not being able to open two Word documents or two Excel files.

So if we can have an option to revert back to the old behaviour, it would be very helpful.

Indeed, the behavior was changed. I'll see if an option is added.

In the meantime, hold Ctrl while opening the file to open in a new instance

Hi All !

If refreshed v115d with this behavior reversed:
  • Opening a file opens a new instance of IQ unless shift or ctrl is pressed
