I think I've said it already... And I know this system might evolve anyways...

But, in the mean time, I think that we should be able to remove items from the tagged list on a per item basis. Maybe with a icon in the item's context menu (just beside the tagging one)...  Or if the itemsTagged field was visible to users, and editable... (of course, an icon would probably be more coherent since this how an item gets "tagged" in the first place)

It's definitely possible to circumvent the actual limitation by creating a grid with "ItemsTagged" as the source, and then selecting items from that grid and "remove" them from there (ctrl-e --> remove from the grid)... But it could probably be done better

PS : to users who don't know that feature : it's not a real "tagging" feature per se. It's just a way to quickly group some disparate items and have them appear in a grid.

How about if I use the new multi-select combobox (used in the new Item window) for this? You'd get the list of tags, and you can select/unselect at will

[edit] Oups. My confusion. I thought you were talking of Wikitags. For the "confusing and to be renamed" tagged items, I could make the ItemTagged field visible [/edit]

Your suggestion seems good. Any solution that's easy to implement and use... The tagged list is probably not the most used feature, but this could probably increase its usability.

... but... because the tagged items list is available in the properties pane (and if it's going to remain like that) an extra option in the properties pane to individually deselect items seems logical to me.

I just saw your edit Pierre... yes, I see.

(This multi-select combo-box you were referring to will be more appropriate for categories or "real tagging" in the proper sense... This should be good when you'll implement it.

One thing though -- in the "add item" window implementation, I miss the "autocomplete" -- as it was before --  in the text box... I know, this might seem a bit picky... But when there's only one field to write there, using the combo-box means at least 2-3 extra steps to get the (one) right name/field in the textbox. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE the new combo-box thingy. and I think that all Search as you Type features should function like in this drop down combo box (why is it that sophisticated there ?)... Especially the grid menu, properties pane, etc.  )

BTW : items could be also de-tagged individually in the "tagged items" list in the properties pane -- just another option below "clear tagged list"...
