Of course it's hard to pin these ones down but after a couple of minutes of searching and clicking on search items (though I've seen this before doing other stuff) the background of the menus start to go black (ie they don't repaint), including context menus on the toolbar.  Then the grids go blank and things start generally being strange (see screenshot).  Restarting does the trick.

Wish I could provide specific replication steps.  Anyone else seen this type of thing?

Thanks!

You think it's a memory leak ?
It happens here too from time to time.
it will usually get fixed with a refresh (F5)

Leak or otherwise, I'm not sure.  But I do find that often when I run IQ even other apps start making noises about having insufficient resources as well.  I did look in process explorer though and it wasn't hogging RAM.  It's almost as though leaks into protected addresses or something which may affect stability.

As I say, I know it must be annoying to hear this without clear replication steps, if I can come up with some I will!

Let me add my voice to this memory loss idea. I've mentioned this on line before.  Reason for me was that I have found that IQ will stop functioning as smoothly after a few days w more than a few grids open simultaneously. Also I've had IQ just drop out from under me for no apparent reason. To me these smell like memory issues.

There was an issue a while back about having too many grids opened. I'll keep an eye for it.

Users having this issue can try to rename the file AppFiles\xp-standard.txt to something else. This will avoid loading grid UI effects. Please report back if this solves the issue.

Not to be cute but do you or anyone have a feel about how many is too many?

IIRC 10-15 grids opened at the same time

When I've had the issues I mentioned, I had only the example data in place, and no more than about 4 grids open.  And it takes place within 5-10 minutes also, not after days as Jan experiences.
