I'd appreciate your help.
As shown in the screencast (https://bit.ly/3iunMkz), I'm trying - unsuccessfully - to sort only the selected items.
How to sort just the selected items?

Gave it a couple of tries but did not find a direct way to do this.
 
Work around:
 
1) Create temporary item
2) Move selected items under temporary header item
3) Select header>right-click>sort sub-items
4) Move sorted items back to higher level (they will maintain their sort)
5) Delete temporary item
 
This may be too many steps to be practical for what you're trying to do.  It's workable for occasional use but if you are constantly wanting to sort selected items it is probably too clunky.
