 Hi,

As informed in this IQ documentation (https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/?q=node/675):
"Search and Replace: Not yet implemented"
I've been using IQ for around 18 months, and I do miss this functionality, mainly to batch change items in the grid.
The "Search and Replace" for the Doc Pane would be less important in a first moment for my use case.
There is a workaround to batch rename items in the grid (https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/?q=node/4663), but I found it difficult to use in terms of interface and the requirement of VBScript to perform the operations.
Also, the workaround seems to affect all items under a certain column/field, and most of the time I want to perform replacements for selected or a range of items.
So, I'm really looking forward to using a proper "Search and Replace" at least for the grid items initially.
Any chance it will be implemented soon?

Thank you,
Carlos

 Hi Pierre,

Great news Search and Replace is coming!

Here just an example of a very effective Search and Replace functionality: https://bit.ly/2ZpJlvw

You can see there that it is very easy to narrow Search/Replace only for the selected content. Or broadening to all occurrences very easily too.

Best,
Carlos

Hi IQ Users !

The wait is over... Find and Replace is **finally** coming to IQ

First cut at it shown here:

  1. Non-modal, resizable dialog
  2. Grid moves to the item found, so user can review and decide to replace or not
  3. Highlights the text found in a preview box
  4. Starts at the currently selected item
  5. When the end is reached, a warning is shown. Click on Find Next again to start from the top
Replace All and Match whole word may not be enabled initially. We'll see how well it goes.

HTH !

a) Regarding replacing selected items, will it be possible to perform Search/Replace only over selected items?
Let's say items 5 to 45 are selected in the grid, and I perform "replace all".
Will the replacing end in item 45?

b) When the items are column filtered or hoisted, and there is no item selection, the affected items by Search/Replace will be just the ones shown on the screen?

c) When the items are column filtered or hoisted, and I perform a selection as described in (a), will only the selected items be affected?

Thanks,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

a) For Replace, no, but you can simply hoist selected and do the same. For Replace All, you'll be prompted to replace all items or just selected ones
b) Exactly. Filtering prevent replacing items not shown
c) Same as a) above

I hope Search and Replace will include wildcard support and somewhere down the line, regular expression support.

 Hi Pierre,

Many thanks for the implementation of "Search and Replace".
It was an impressive pace of development!

a) Reporting a possible bug
After performing an operation through "Search and Replace" and clicking on it's window close [x] buttom, IQ is minimized as well.
If you just open "Search and Replace" but don't perform an actual operation, clicking on the close [x] button will not minimize IQ.

b) A couple of suggestions
- Assign an icon
- Make it available for easy access on the toolbar
- Assign a default shortcut. I customized mine as Ctrl+Alt+F

My points (a) and (b) are illustrated in this screencast: https://bit.ly/2FzqgzY

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

All these are included in v116c.
Live-Search will also be getting Find and Replace, with the advantage that it can do it on all text fields at once (i.e. not just one field at a time)
