I want items to display different item formatting in different grids.

Any formatting directly applied to an item travels with it and is applied in the same way wherever it is displayed. Sometimes, I don't want that.

I believe the only way to accomplish what I want is to use conditional formatting and display the relevant checked columns where I want that particular formatting to be displayed.

Is there some other, maybe simpler, way to do this? I went through field and grid options and couldn't come up with anything.

I guess a simpler method would be an option that allows formatting to be applied at the grid level. But that goes against the way InfoQube is structured (items don't belong to grids).

Hi Wayne,

What specific formatting are you referring to ?

- For embedded, not much you can do

- Item font and Item color are applied to grid specified columns. If you set it to a non-existant column, this type of formatting will not be applied

- Another option is to use Outline Styles

Perhaps provide a concrete example...

Example:

Item = Book Title and author

I want:

1) In grid #1 = the item cell to be gray because I already own this book

2) In grid #2 = the item cell to be yellow because it contains eyewitness testimony.

3) in grid #3 = the item cell to be blue because I have completed taking notes on it.

...and so forth

So each grid has a specific purpose:

Grid 1 = do I have the book or do I need to get it?

Grid 2 = what kind of historical evidence does it contain?

Grid 3 = what is the work status re taking notes?

Within each grid, I want to use formatting (backcolor, bolding, text color etc) to represent the status of each item based on the purpose of that grid.

So each item will have multiple formatting combinations, depending on which grid it is in.

Pretty sure I can accomplish the above with conditional formatting.

A simpler way would be to simply format each item the way I want, but have the formatting apply to that grid only.

Or maybe there's another way I don't know about.
