I expect this has been asked many times before but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

How do I copy outlines between databases. Drag and drop would be ideal but it does not seem to work. I need to keep the formatting and structure.

Each outline has about 160 entries with Dates and other information attached. It's a ongoing project that I have to have sorted by this week.

Any help would be appreciated.

Comments

1) Select outline top item (header)

2) Ctrl-shift-C (or right-click>copy special)>6 (selected items and their sub-items)

3) Go to other file and select blank item

4) Ctrl-v (or right-click>paste)

5) Item and sub-items will be pasted at top of grid (even if you select a spot lower down).

Will retain formatting and creation date from originals

I haven't used it that much but presumably it can't duplicate field assignments (try it and see to verify).  Shouldn't be a big deal to display any fields you want to apply and manually check them off.

This generally works well but it's still under development and there will sometimes be glitches.  So do a manual check and more copy/pasting as needed to get everything moved over correctly

If you do get glitches, try closing and re-opening both files.

Thank you. I got it sorted.

Yes. Closing and re opening seems to be the way you implement a number of changes.

Yes. All field assignments were copied over.

All in all it worked quite well.

Much appreciated.

Hi Maxbear

Much needs to be improved when it comes to moving information from one IQBase to another.

This thread may be what I needed to start working on this feature
(all my content is in a single IQBase, which partly explains why it isn't done...)
