I think that it was pretty recently that the copy/paste operation got more complicated.
Before, I could copy website text and instantly paste it in InfoQube. Now, I often have to pick between HTML and other options when I paste.
Of course, as soon as I start this post, it stops doing that and every copy/paste I try now simply pastes he text, which is what I want.
Seems to go thru cycles where it happens all the time then it stops then starts up again.
Could someone explain what controls this and how I can avoid it's recurrence?

How do I ?

Wayne, my understanding was…
Wayne, my understanding was that you get that dialogue on first copying and pasting something, thereafter it defaults to the option you chose, HTML or Unicode. This goes on until you explicitly choose a different format via Paste Special, then that would become the default, and so on. This is how it works for me anyway.

If that's what it did, I wouldn't have a problem it. But it pops up over and over, and I don't know why. Then it stops doing it, and I don't know why. Not a big deal but an extra step that can be unwelcome if you're moving a lot of material.

Hi Wayne,
You're correct that it isn't working correctly. DavidF description is the way it should work, but it doesn't.
In v119Pre9, Grids will remember the last format used in grids and if available in the clipboard, will use it.
Same for Doc pane/Item Editors (use the last format use in Doc pane/Item Editors).

Hi Wayne,
Copy paste is improved in v117pre9, any comments ?

Not sure it's fixed for me. First two tries it brought up the "paste special" dialogue. Did 5 or 6 more tries after that and it worked correctly (simply pasted the text). So not sure. I'll report back after more use.

It doesn't appear to be fixed for me. Just had multiple instances in a row where I copied text from the same page. Every time I pasted in InfoQube, the dialogue came up.
Hard to judge whether it's occurring less because I haven't been doing much copy/pasting the paste few days.

Tried PRE9. Copy and past seem to not work. Crtl V does not paste. Maybe I am not using it correctly but I had to go back to PRE8 to get a smooth Copy & Paste.

There are many copy paste types, can you report back which one is not working in Pre9 ?

Well it's simple really. In PRE8 I can Ctrl C - copy and CTRL V - paste fine.
In PRE9 it does not work. Ctrl V does not paste. I press CTRL V and nothing happens.
Here this anomaly. I cannot choose paste as plain text. If I go to the edit paste menu and specifically choose paste as plain text i still get the paste special menu.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Maxbear35,
I was able to track the issue.
The Pre10 patch was updated. Full packages will be online tomorrow

Thank you very much for the prompt attention.

I am using 119Pre5.
I copy texts with a URLs from a webpage and paste into a specific Grid using Ctrl-v. It usually pastes the text with the URL as I want.
However, for unknown reasons, it sometimes just paste the text instead (in the same Grid). To get it back to do text with URL, I need to use Paste-Special - HTML format to get it working again (until it stops the next time)...
IQ remembers the last paste…
IQ remembers the last paste format, so perhaps you switched format ?
I didn't switch format, but…
I didn't switch format, but I can now reproduce it:
1. Copy an item with URL
2. Ctrl-v to paste into IQ => Pastes as hyperlink. So far so good.
3. Copy another item with URL
4. Ctrl-v to paste it into Ecco* => Pastes as text (as expected)
5. Ctrl-v to paste the same item into IQ => Pastes as text!
6. From that point on, any new item with URL pastes as text into IQ (until I do a paste special)
My personal preference would…
My personal preference would be (when in the grid) to always, always paste everything as plain text, except for hyperlinks - without the need to pop up any dialogs. Same for copy, unless multiple items are selected (-> outline). But I'm likely in a minority of one.
I just tested again. After I…
I just tested again. After I have pasted the item with the URL to Ecco, I am not able to subsequently paste into IQ with the URL; even if I do paste special as HTML format.
Very strange that just pasting into Ecco removes the hyperlink.

Indeed, EccoEx is doing something to the item after pasting it into Ecco. It works if use plain vanilla Ecco (which I haven't used by itself for many, many years..)
