Hi Pierre, hope you're having a quiet, restful, peaceful long weekend -
On my end, making use of the time to do some experimenting in Card View and have a few questions:
1. The To-Do Grid from about the beginning of IQ continues to be my main work Grid. From there I "distribute" various Items to other (mostly storage) project grids as I see fit. Completed Items are filtered out of To-Do's Grid by marking them "Done". But currently, To-Do's Card View shows every Item I've ever created in To-Do's. How can I re-jig (filter?) Card View to only show current (not yet Done) To-Do Items? And, then when I've marked them Done in To-Do's they'll automatically drop-out of Card View too?
2. According to IQ Help I can delete the thousands of items showing in To-Do's Card View simply by selecting them and hitting the Delete Key, and I've done some minor experimentation and this appears to be be correct. BUT I'm semi-terrified I might actually delete all actual Items "loosely related" to the Cards. Please confirm I can safely delete Cards by means of the Delete Key without deleting them from the associated Grid View and ergo the database.
3. On what basis does creating a Card View assign items (cards) to the four different quadrants?
thanks Pierre
Doug

Hi Doug, The items shown in…
Hi Doug,
There could be other ways to use it, but I tend to use this:

thanks Pierre, I'm happy to…
thanks Pierre, I'm happy to report that I selected all To-Do Grid Cards and deleted them, and didn't lose any items from the To-Do Grid or Done Grids (at least so far as I can see), so thanks for confirming that.
Two other questions related to today's explorations:
1. Pop-Up Editor used to, or for a while I guess, had "handwriting recognition support using a pen", and it worked very well - but I see it's gone now, including all references to it in Help being still there but struck thru. Any thoughts of restoring that function?
2. Would it be possible to use that same or similar handwriting technology to facilitate handwriting, or "inking", in the Document Pane? Without having to employ any 3rd party handwriting middle-ware.
thanks again, take care, Doug
Hi Doug, Indeed it was…
Hi Doug,
Indeed it was removed a while back (to help get IQ running under Wine IIRC)
Have you tried using the Windows on-screen keyboard ? It has a pen input panel which seems to work well (though I admit, I did not fully test it)
