2 new grid column types and easy in-line links to other items !

In v118h:

  1. New: Grid: Easy in-line links to other items (WYSIWYG editor)
  2. New: Doc pane / Item Editor: Easy in-line links to other items. Details here
  3. New: Grid: Tag branch as a grid column: Edit (F2) only shows list of tags in that branch
  4. New: Grid: ItemValues field: Shows all item values that are not currently displayed as a grid column. Show this column in sparse matrix-type grids and in your search / scratch grids (to have a overall view of the item's values)
  5. New: Grid: Field ItemValues now support 2 new properties: Separator and Prefix. Enter these in the Options section in the format < PropName >Value< /PropName >, use CR to show each entry on a new line
  6. New: Grid: Option to show a box around the tree column for selected items
  7. New: Grid and Properties pane: 0, +0, -0, =0 all enter today's date

Hey. More great stuff in this update, thanks!

However, for me, in grids with background color &H00FFFFFF&, the box around tree column items displayed, when I click on a different grid item and focus changes, the previously focused item gets a black background in the tree column, even though the grid's background is set to a different color, like so (the two blackened items were clicked on before the boxed one):

Strangely, this does not seem to happen for grids where I have set a custom background color.

Thanks for the update!

So far no luck fixing the black item background issue. However, it only seems to occur when the grid's background color is set to all white. I used the palette to make it darker by moving the slider for customizing a color just a few pixels lower and that fixed the problem. It also won't occur for any of the other colors in the top row of the default palette. So really it's not a problem anymore - I can live with a little off-white. Supposedly slightly lower contrast is better for your eyes anyway...

I also played with all the settings options in the Grid category but nothing seemed to fix it.

Thanks for the options.ini file. I found the issue. You're using system colors instead of an actual RGB color. I'll be able to fix it. If you want to avoid this issue right now, simply choose actual colors for grid select color (1.2.4 and 1.2.5). I'll provide a fix in v118Pre3 later on

I might have missed it, but what's the biggest feature for 118?  (like card view for 116, iq-evernote sync for 117)  Seems like it might be using tags in grid columns?

  1. New: Evernote: Sync Tags IQ > EN and/or EN > IQ  >> moved to v119
  2. New: Export: OPML export command
  3. New: Edit > Copy as OPML
  4. New: image paste: option to paste embedded (base64 encoded) instead of as a linked file
  5. New: Tags pane: Context menu to show / hide a tag branch as a grid column
  6. New: Grid: Tag branch as a grid column: Edit (F2) only shows list of tags in that branch
  7. New: Grid: Option to show a box around the tree column for selected items

Other things will most likely be added along the way

I take it this planned feature has not yet been implemented? Will we be able to in embed images in an embedded document, or in a field, or both? I'm guessing we won't be able to embed an image in the Item field since it is defined as a Text type. Maybe we will have Image as a new field type? I will be happy to be able to store images in the sndb file instead of an external file, seems like it would be more robust. Particularly for small images which won't radically increase the sndb file size.

The Related Items dialog is stretched longer than the height of my screen, so I cannot press any of the buttons, nor does it allow me to resize it to a more manageable size.  Bug?

Hi Pierre, Calendar question here.

It used to be that I could right-click on a Calendar Item in Calendar View and select "Mark as Done" and that date would register in the Appointments Grid / Done Column/Field.     But that link stopped working for me years ago, about 2014/2015.

Is there some setting somewhere that would get that link working again?

Or is there a different date field that Calendar Item right-click "Mark as Done" links to now?

It is working here...

Elsewhere in IQ (say in a grid), does Item > Mark as Done (Ctrl+M) work ?

If it doesn't, perhaps you need to set the Done field (Manage field > Done > Properties > Is Done field: checked

The other possibility is that these are events synced from Google Calendar where the sync type is "View" or "View / Edit" (that is, IQ items are not created)

This is not fixed for me. I can still drag the splitter in the properties pane to the left to completely hide the fields column.
