Hi,
I have very little experience with IQ so bear with me, pls (gotta love the wordplay ;-) )
I have been wondering whether IQ can do the following:
"Import" an HDD folder into the database so the folder appears among other database items more or less like a junction point or a symbolic link - meaning: when files or subfolders in the HDD folder change, it is visible in the database (more or less as if I were looking at the folder using Windows Explorer).
The purpose of this approach is to be able to mix (in the database) info items (e.g. my notes) and folders with files on the HDD.
Hope it makes sense :)
Thanks in advance for any kind help!
Best regards,
K
How do I ?

Hi karelt
First a warm welcome from the IQ Community !
This has been discussed before and could easily be implemented and is on the wish list:
syncing IQ with file system - would you like this feature?

Thank you, Pierre :)
So nice to see I am not the only one with a similar wish upon his heart. I have already added my opinion to the thread.

Hi karelt, It will not…
Hi karelt,
It will not update if/when files are moved, but unless you have a very large tree structure, it should not be difficult to reproduce it in IQ and then do either (1) File > Import > Text files or (2) drag-drop files
Content will be indexed (the two methods do not give the same result, so try each and see which one suits you best)
Although being able to…
Although being able to forget about sync between IQ and the HDD folder structure would be nice, I for myself would be fine with just having the functionality described in my first post. Cannot speak for the others of course.
Best regards and happy new year!
:)
