What is happening is that your new grid is using an existing field (instead of creating a new one). This field is the Notes field, a text field.
And in the current version, there is an issue with using a text field as the grid source. I'll fix it in the next version.
You can use another field (e.g. Notes1, a yes/no field) or ensure you enter something in the Notes column
(easiest way out, is to create a new grid, with another name. You can always rename the grid later on.
If you want to find your newly entered items (which went away), simply open the Journal grid and filter by date for the last week or so. You can drag the items to the new grid and voilà !
