Why wouldn't the grid colums in my main file not resize, even though manage grids>columns>auto-size width has the box checked?

maybe that's a typo (or the wrong screenshot?), but the problem in the image is with cell height so grids>columns>auto-size width has no effect
Try in Manage Fields -> tick 'Multi-line'

Thanks Tom, that was it.
 
Unfortunately, that wasn't a typo, or wrong screenshot, just something that I didn't know about.
 
I just didn't equate #14 of 3. InfoQube Data: Items, Fields, Tags and Links with cell height.  Maybe I can improve #14 with some pictures.
