Hola Greetings from Asuncion Paraguay.

I have been using the outliner portable latest version for some time without major problems (some ocasional crash, but usually data were not lost). But recently it does really crash very often.

I am using it with Windows 8.1 and run it on administration mode.

So i decided to download and run the full version of the app because it is one year younger that the outliner version only. And started to run it as portable, not set into any Windows programs folder, and run it in the administration mode.

Right at the beginning i tried the Tools > Options and immediately the apps crashed. It simply shut down, closed.

An other very recurrent crash happens when i use the hyperlink to link a word/few words in the doc pan of an item to a file i have in my Hard disk: this is one of my preferred command! It was working very fine in the outliner in the versions before the 2021 version! Please check it out. It is a very useful command.

So, can it be something related to my windows 8.1?

As said: this problem sort of built up in the last few weeks: a sort of increasing numbers of crash.

Please give me some advice.

I love Infoqube, and of course my precious data are in it.

First a warm welcome from the IQ community !

To help us isolate the issue:

  1. Is there an error message when crashing?
  2. Can you reproduce the crash using a sample IQBase?
  3. Have you tried your IQBase on a different PC?

There are no messages when crashing.
I will try to reproduce some of the crashes (snagging a video, trying to use snag or mov formats).
I will try to convince my partner (!) to launch the portable version i am using on her machine, and see what will happen.
I have tried the full app version - i am normally using the outliner only - but the frequency of crashes did not change.
My IQbase was born from importing one of my large ecco file. Long time back we interchanged about it.

Hola Pierre, I did some homework
1) I have snagged a video with two crashes. Attached mp4 file...jajajaja: format not allowed.
I did not edit the video, to let you show the process in the real time.
The first crash related to hyperlinking, and the second to Options.
As you notice the crash is rather imediate, without any message.
2) I launched the portable version of the outliner in the laptop of my partner (!). I copied in her machine the ini, and the sndb files of one of the data base i am using. She runs on Windows 10, i run Windows 8.1.
I simulate the same two operations (hyperlinking in the doc pane, and the Tools > option): it did not crash at all!
Which make me very happy! But of course i need to get tips on what to do for my machine.
Do I have to move to Windows 10? I talked to a friend who is much more advanced than me in IT, and he believes that it should not be related to the operating system, considering that my machine does not really crash with any other apps.
Please let me know what i should try to do.
I need to use my Infoqube outliner. I also launched the full version, but I also got the crashes.
