How to move an item in fewer steps?

Submitted by WayneK on 2025/07/10 15:23

To move a subitem to another grid with a different parent, I do this:

1) Mark subitem in grid #1 (ctrl-m)

2) Navigate to new parent in grid #2 and assign subitem as child ctrl-shift-n)

3) Return to grid #1 and delete subitem from its original location.

How can I accomplish this in fewer steps?  Seems like there should be a way to skip step 3.

Would also be nice if there were an option to just paste the item in grid #2 as a TLI (no parent).

I couldn't find anything better in the user manual.

Hi Wayne,

  1. I'm sure you know, but you can do this in a single step with drag-drop
  2. What you perhaps don't know is that instead of marking the item, you can simply cut and paste it:
    1. On the item to move, hit Ctrl+D > 2- Delete from this location Only
    2. On the destination parent or sibling, hit Ctrl+Shift+C. Select 2- InfoQube Items. Select 1- Same Level or 2- Sub-Item
    3. You can also use Ctrl+C to copy, but then you'll need to remove it from the old parent. Alternatively, in the Properties pane, you can remove the parent link (right-click on the old parent and select Delete Parent Link)
