Hoisting

Submitted by Maxbear35 on 2025/07/12 11:22

I'd like to know if it's possible to have two distinct lists available for hoisting, allowing me to easily toggle between which one is actively 'hoisted' at any given time.

Also Is it possible to save multiple 'hoisted' lists and then easily switch between them as needed?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi maxbear,

Having a history of Hoist is definitely an interesting idea. Right now, your best bet is using the Hoist Marked Items command. Setting Marked items is easy: Ctrl+Shift+M

Yes. Marking does work however I am not sure multiple marking produces a list. Essentialy I use 4 major list and I would really like to be able to 'one click' switch between them. Maybe this can be done right now but I'm not so sure how I could achieve this.

Indeed, the proposed workaround isn't a 1-click solution, it is:

  1. Switch to the grid that contains the items to hoist
  2. Select items
  3. Ctrl+Shift+M to mark these items
  4. Switch to the grid to show hoisted items
  5. Do Hoist > Hoist Marked items (you could set a keyboard shortcut for this command)

If you have significant screen real-estate (which I believe you do ;-) ), you could leave some grid(s) open to speed the process

If you have 4 such lists, you could leverage the Card View for this as it also has 4 quadrants. Ctrl+A selects all items in the current quadrant:

  1. Open the Card view and detach it so it is a floating window
  2. Hover the mouse over a quadrant and hit Ctrl+A. hit Ctrl+Shift+M (to mark these)
  3. In your grid, do Hoist Marked items

You could also use the Source bar filter textbox to switch between list of items (as it has a built-in history drowdown list). If you need help for this do not hesitate to ask.

What I hope to achieve is to see a drop down or some other method to see list of Marked items. Then be able to click select and have that item hoisted. Then when finished to be able to switch smoothly to another marked item that is then hoisted automatically. Or maybe I'm just trying to kludge up a solution without thinking it through. I am open to correction.

If what  you want is to have a list of 4 items and hoist any one of these, then you can do this entirely with the Hoist menu command

  1. Mark the 4 (or more) items
  2. In the grid, Hoist Marked items
  3. In the hoisted grid, select any one item and do Hoist Selected
  4. When done with this item, unhoist and hoist another
How do I ?
