Column misbehavior

Submitted by WayneK on 2026/08/12 15:13

I have a large grid with 30+ columns.  Whenever I add a column, the order is getting scrambled with 5+ columns moving to random positions.  It started a few days ago.

I think it's doing it at other times, too, but I'm sure it's doing it when i add fields.

Possibly related to my recent bug where it was deleting columns when I was doing grouping?

Just confirmed it's not just this one grid.  Did the same thing in another grid in the same file.

I'll create a column set for back up (should have thought of that before).

Update:  creating a column set doesn't help because my set up includes several tag columns that won't show up when a column set is added.  Easier just to fix what's there.

Update #2:  Not only does it move columns around, it splits groups then moves the individual columns around.  I'd started creating groups to make it easier to put things back in order but that's not working, either.

It's also deleting columns.  I have 15 fields in view (disregarding tag fields) but when I go to "add column" it shows 18 fields assigned to the grid.

Hi Wayne,

Column groups isn't very robust (as you're experiencing). It is meant for simple show/hide action. Testing has also been minimal (as I don't use them much)

If you can reproduce the issue(s) in a sample IQBase (say the IQ Doc file), I can certainly look into it.
