hmm I cant get it to work at all ...
havent been moving much but within grid only alt+arrow key works for me. Luckily I havent had to move to another grid (you'd have to 'tag' item I guess)
So I select any item in my rather large Inbox, and try to drag it anywhere. Nothing at all happens...
I'm emailing the IQBase in question - I don't really want to upload it to a public forum just yet!
There are other strange things happening with this file, or at least, things which I do not understand... For example, Filter as you type is the only option available from the Filter button after setting Grid / Column filter / Column filter buttons. This behaviour is new in this particular file (and does not occur in other IQBases). What have I failed to understand here?

Yes, I had a great time in North America! Spain next week. You see how it is that we Europeans are poor and happy - we're always on holiday and never do any real work - which gives us time to learn exciting new software !

did you install the latest build from 2 days ago ? (just unzip the file in your IQ installation directory to replace the old files with the new one)
Yes. I'm running the 05/08/2009 build. Having already sent my IQBase to Pierre, I can now see what I'm doing wrong. To move an item, you have to select the whole line and then drag with the mouse on the # item number. I had naïvely been trying the Ecco-style button.

did you turn off the Grid >Column filter>Filter as you type option ?
