I am trying to import a literature list from a tab delimited text document.
  • I have followed all the steps described in the online help (btw: very good description).
  • Everything looks good in the preview, all fields are mapped correctly and contain proper values.
  • Then I say "Import" - things happen and in my grid:
  • Only the part of the information is imported
    • none of the yes/no fields have a yes (though in the preview they did)
    • a field which has text in " " (as specified in the import and shown in the preview) is empty for all records
    • a normal text field (again, displayed correctly in the preview) is empty in all records
The problem is not the grid - I have looked at the items properties and in the manage fields -  there are no values there.
I am including the file and would appreciate any help,

thanks!

Hi srv181, and welcome to InfoQube and its new WebSite! :)
There seems to be a problem with the link you provided...? maybe it's just me ?

could it be a problem with the umlaut ?

sorry about that - never thought about the umlauts
here a second attempt to upload the file.

BTW: the result trying to import the same information as CSV was the same.
I really have tried this from all directions, up, down and diagonal

Thanks fpr your help!

um...,
just want to mention that this is still a problem.
Same results with other files ind CSV format - up to the preview, everything is fine,
but then only parts (some fileds) are actually imported.

I would really like to get some of this information into IQ, but there is just no way
that I am retyping it!

Thanks

What was the name of the grid you were attempting to create? Did it have umlauts in its name too?

the name of the gridd was "books" - no Umlauts, no spaces.
As I mentioned, similar problems occur when trying to import contacts from csv
no matter whether I separate fields using  tabs, ";" or ","

thanks

I've imported a hundred records from your data. Everything looks ok, except that your prices in strings got compressed (e.g, "14,97" becomes 1497). This might be a locale setting.  The Amazon and Here checkboxes seem to have worked correctly.  Some of your "notes" fields have carriage returns in them, and these result in empty item rows.

Remember when you import to add the "identifer" field (e.g. Books with a value of -1). And to refresh after importing.

well this is a real case of good news/bad news.

  • The good news is that it now works here for me as well, for all kinds of information.
  • The bad news is that I feel rather foolish !!

However, knowing that I really did try all sorts of combinations, which did not work
and that there is now a new version out

which can now retroactively add Items-Info to AutoList fields - how cool is that!

keeps me from hanging my head in shame, instead, let me once again give thanks
to Pierre for a great product and fantastic responsiveness!

Thanks to you Mark as well for taking the time to try this out,

Susanne

Great to hear this. Can we consider this closed, or is there a remaining issue?
