To make a long story short : I erased 2500 items this afternoon... Yup, I made a mistake. And discovered, much too late, that I had no "recent" backup -- I did move my backup folder at some point (not sure why I did that, but I did...) and IQ didn't create a new one to replace it...

Fortunately, yes, I had a 1.5 days old backup from my external HD -- ironically I usually backup twice a day, but not this time... :(.
Close enough, but it took me almost 6 hours to put back  the older DB close to how it was just before the disaster. :)

In any case, I wonder if IQ could :

1- create the backup folder (if it doesn't exist)
2- and warn the user if it can't backup for some (other) reason.

That would really help avoiding embarrassing situations...

Voilà.

wow. sorry

sounds like a pretty basic request to me.  I 2nd, 3rd & 4th that.

Thanks for your sympathies, Jan... ;)

I think there's a problem with the "create backup on program close".

is you IQ backing up the DB normally on program close ?

Pierre : I noticed that there's an error message appearing when I try to backup manually and the backup folder doesn't exist. Nice. But for some reasons, it's the only time I see that dialog. (I'm happy to see that it's there, though!).

So maybe there's something else going wrong on my side. I'll different setting tonight.

I should probably put that in the bug section :

1- "Timestamp auto-backup" setting is not saved.

2-And I can confirm that there's no error message here when the program can't backup automatically. It fails silently.

(Otherwise, if backup folder is there etc., the backup seems to happen as scheduled.)

I'm very sorry to hear about this Armando...

This issue is now fixed. A pop up message appears in such a case, and backup is nevertheless done in the user data folder:

Don't worry. It was my mistake... (And better that these things happen during the beta phase.)
Next time, I'll test my scripts on a "test" DB instead of my own...  :)
