I am ex ECCO user and I can't get links to work in IQ, they are ignored.
I wanted to set an item as a link to the IQ User Manual so that I did not have to go through Firefox each time.
I used the Item, Hyperlink dialog which pasted the HTML text  in.

IQ recognized the item text as a link (underlined blue with link cursor)  but further than that I could not get. Is there a menu option or icon to execute it as in ECCO?
2-clicking on the item showed that the double-quotes were missing round the URL in the HTML <a href= element. Editing these in made no difference.
(Putting the URL into an ECCO item and clicking my Launch Firefox button opens Firefox with the URL displayed Ok but doesn't execute at the moment)

I have the IQ User Manual saved in my Firefox Scrapbook folder.  Setting an ECCO item with Filename.html (Windows path) works perfectly with the Launch button via Firefox. ( ECCO 'index.html    (D:\COMPUTER\Internet\ScrapBook\data\20090831143820)'. Firefox 'file:///D:/COMPUTER/Internet/ScrapBook/data/20090831143820/index.html').
I have tried various permutations of filenames and paths in IQ without success.
Any suggestions?

Comments

Tried it here without any special settings AFAIK.
Created item, used Item/Hyperlink,
Used "Browse for File" to locate my HTML file.
Resulting code was:
<a href=K:\Computers\Docs\Eggs\Inventory.htm>Test link Item
which displays a blue "Test Link Item" and when I click on it up pops my browser with the page...

Must say that I've had problems with hyperlinks from time to time recently... I thought they weren't working anymore, but discovered that if I double clicked, they worked...

Pierre -- there seems to be an intermittent bug with hyperlinks and single clicks / double clicks.

Could those with this problem try double clicking ?

OK... sometimes, no html links work in the grid here too : double click, single click, in the properties pane, whatever.
Wonder what happens...

Tom ? I know you use links... any problems on your side ?

[edit : that's the kind of links I have : <a href=[FileFullName]>filename.ext</a> ]

[/quote]hmm, havent noticed any -
I have lots of linked files in IQ but usually only open a few each day (directly from IQ).

Will keep an eye out (sometimes things act up, and if they then improve, I can tend to forget about it...)

All links are working today... Except the Outlook ones (links to outlook items)... Not sure why...

My Outlook links are still not functioning.
1- I repaired my PST file.
2- I compared outlook items id numbers to the one in the IQ links -- everything's ok.

It used to work but not anymore.

I'd just like to know if it's just me and the peculiarities of my Outlook installation, or are other people experiencing the same thing ?

Do this :

1- right click on an item
2- select "hyperlink" -- the hyperlink dialog should appear
3-drag&drop an Oulook item into the little box designed for Outlook links.
4- Click OK
5- Click on the newly created link in IQ

What happens ?

if you paste the link in IE or some other app, does it work?

Interestingly, if I just paste the "Outlook:00000000BDDD5AA90212A2459ED7C2F071F10334A4A85B00" without the tags in the item field, and double click, it works. Of course, working like that is not possible in my current setup.

ooops... I erased my previous post by mistake...

So, before writing that

"Interestingly, if I just paste the "Outlook:00000000BDDD5AA90212A2459ED7C2F071F10334A4A85B00" without the tags in the item field, and double click, it works. Of course, working like that is not possible in my current setup."

I wrote that my Outlook links were working perfectly in other apps.

First I would first recommend updating - your build is over two months old www.infoqube.biz/download
most recent version is 0.9.24G (2009-09-18 23h20) - after installing that, download the latest build (currently 0.9.24G8 2009-10-02 23h50)

I'm afraid I dont have the answer (I dont have scrapbook installed) but a search for scrapbook www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php shows a few promising links e.g. from Pierre's blog: -- link to nonexistent node ID 469 --
