I've been reading some of the threads on this but have some questions:

On the Ecco side it looks like I'd have to do an export of TLI + children
Is tab delimited preferred over comma -- there was a thread about a problem w comma

On the import side, I guess I'm only importing 2 fields: # + item

Does it make more sense to create a blank file w a new ecco grid + automated ecco field to import?

Thanks

The regular Ecco import (File>>Import>>Ecco) does not work for you? (no need to select between tab and comma delimited...)

It may but I understood that worked for entire file, not specific Ecco Folder. I'll look again

It works for entire file OR selected items

I must be missing something then.
My steps:

1. open EccoPro file
2. In Ecco focus on folder of interest
3. In IQ choose alt step 3 (import selected ecco TLI's & subs)
3. Select 'start import after completing analysis
4. IQ reports 1 item imported (last ID imported: 1)

You must select all items in the folder.

OK, then IQ dialog is misleading

Edited: 11/12/09 09:29 am selecting all items solves the problem

Pierre, on the Ecco import, it appears IQ created a new field for every TLI that was imported. Does that sound right to you? I don't know why it should do that. I now have to clean up a couple hundred fields....?

Actually I can't edit w 9.24H5 because of the field mgmt problem. But this has been fixed according to another thread but hasn't been released. Any ETA on that release, Pierre? Anything more precise than 'soon'? Clearly I'm asking for very selfish reasons.

Jan, in the meantime I think you should go back to a previous backup if there's been so much damage caused...

Tks Tom. I was thinking I could sort for field w '0' assignments & delete that way if the field mgnt issue were resolved. Does that make sense to you?

Also just noticed something else.

On my desktop, I have SNDB file which is associated w FF
I tried to change the association via Control Panel > File Associations, etc but it wouldn't take -- maybe because this is a vista 64 machine & IQ is in Program Files x86 rather than Program Files
I don't know Vista registry, thinking maybe I could change it there. Something weird is going on here.

Re file associations Jan:
I dont know Vista -
can you change file associations via the file context "open with" menu as in XP ?
open with>>choose programme>>  select programme of choice or 'browse' to it - select "always use selected prog."

That usually works in XP I find

  1. Ecco Import: This is not normal and I've never seen this. Ecco fields will be created on import, but not 1 field for each item... You're sure of this? What are the field name?
  2. Field Management: simply select another field before hitting save:
    1. Select a field
    2. Delete
    3. Make sure you manually select any other field
    4. Select the next field to delete
    5. Delete
    6. Repeat steps 3 to 5
  3. Next release: I'll do my best to get something out today
