I've been keeping that one on the backburner for a while, but I think it needs to be fixed ASAP.

1- Problem with full tree copying ("Selected items and their sub-items -- In XML format, to make an exact copy of the items and ail their sub-items and paste It in an IQBase)

--> when there's recursion in the tree there's no end to the copying process. Processor is at 100% and one needs to close IQ.

2 - Can't copy/paste selected items while preserving the hierarchy.

--> let's say I just want to copy some "finance" items of a tree containing all kinds of other info and preserve the hierarchical info. Intuitively, I'd think that 1- I should just set the right filter, 2- and then copy/paste.

But it's more complicated than that and there's no automated way achieve this result (unless the only thing one wants is to export to HTML).

the only way to do that (it seems) is to :

a- copy items as individuals (Selected items -->  In XML format, to make an exact copy of the items and paste it in an IQBase)

b- reconstitute the hierarchy... Which can be a real pain.

Comments

Armando -- don't know if it's related but I reported copy / paste a portion of a tree inserts it out of order, i.e. instruct IQ to paste 'here' & it pastes somewhere else, usually @ a different tree level.

I haven't experienced what you're referring to yet. I don't think it's related.

What I'm describing is not a bug per se -- it's more a limitation of IQ's copy/paste.

The recursion issue is now fixed. Mantis issue 0827.

Thanks for reporting.

You're reading my mind... I'm working on it right now.   (fix bugs first, then add features, that's my philosophy)

This issue is now resolved. Mantis issue 0828.

I'm still having problems w copy / paste xml, i.e. data doesn't paste
Maybe someone else needs to look at it & confirm / deny bugs still exist.
I've made a video screen capture to illustrate but can't figure out how to upload it

OK, try it now, I've added that file format. Otherwise, you can zip it and upload it.
