Today when searching for another extremely important legal HTML document - notes that I took over several telephone conversations, I again discovered that the data was not in the HTML pane. The items were present but not the HTML materials. This disturbs me so much that I have now taken to printing any HTML page worth anything to me as I don't feel confident about IQ at the moment.

Yes, I know ver pre12 was supposed to address some unlinking issues & yes, I know how to search for the item # in the dB_name.SNDB folder. Not there.  Since I use Drop Box I searched there as well. Not there. I un-deleted recently deleted files on DropBox. Not there. I make a back up to another local drive. I searched there as well. Not there.  I searched my recycle bin. Not there.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I am very upset.

Hi Jan,

To help you I need:
  1. to know if the content was linked (i.e. in a separate file) or embedded.
  2. If linked, you can do a search for the ItemXXXX.HTM or .MHT in your .files folder. Is this folder synced by DropBox? It is a good idea to do so
  3. If embedded, checkout a backup of the .sndb file. The best backup system is either timed backups or a DropBox synched auto-backup (.SNBKA)
I can't possibly see how the content disappeared from the main file and backups, so give me a call if you need help finding it back ...

Hi Pierre:

I realize that the outcome could prove to be program related or human error. Since Jan's problem potentially effects all users, could you please keep us posted on your findings?

Thank you and happy new year.

Hi Pierre,

I'm happy to report that after rummaging around some more in numerous backup files, I found the two important pieces of info I desperately needed.  So that short term issue has been resolved
First to answer your questions:
1. embedded
2. when you ask if "this folder synced by DropBox, I'm not sure I know which folder you refer to. And here's what i noticed which may be the source of my problem IQ has all the redundancy in the world but i may have a lousy plan.

Currently my IQ dB on my main machine is called "blackbird_master"
this file resides in the dropbox folder & is updated on other machines & in the clouds
My timed backup settings send all back ups to a special 1T byte drive I have on the Blackbird machine into an InfoQube folder.
However the folder on my main machine that contains all the MHT / HTML files is named "master" & I think it should have the same name as the dB, i.e. blackbird_master ... right? If so, what are the steps to change this that won't screw things up.

I will immediately change the subject on this thread so it doesn't cause any consternation.

But the question remains : how did it happen ?

Was it because of some of the syncing problems -- e.g. : you thought that there was no content in the item and either erased it or replaced it with something else ?
Or was it because of some error on your part ?

Good point. I think it was caused by moving my dB w/o the other files moving w it.  The items existed so I know I didn't delete them & didn't replace them w something else. About my making an error....  I guess you could say that, i.e. I didn't know enough to make sure that all the data moved together. As you can see by my post I still have questions about this.

Humm... if this was embedded content, then it can't be because you didn't move any file. Do you know when this happened?

True enough but It happened when I was setting up my drop box sync. Altho that doesn't make sense for an embedded files as you point out.  At one point we were dealing w a situation where html panes weren't syncing w items. That's since been fixed. Maybe it happened during that time. But once it was fixed, don't know why the html pane wouldn't show up w the 'lost' data in it.  I'm sorry, Pierre. That's all I can think of @ the moment.
