once again can't copy/paste properly. :(

1- select a few items, and only a few columns in a grid.
2- copy
3- Try to paste somewhere (e.g. : notepad, IQ...)... Nothing happens.

It's not my clipboard enhancer. I shut it down and same thing happens.

beta 9.25 pre 16
If I select some items from # column for complete rows & columns & I
copy using 2nd option from copy dialog, i.e. in tab delimited format for other apps & I
paste into notepad, that works here but I'm
not sure I'm replicating your steps, Armando.

That applied to prerelease 14.

Thanks jan (sorry I didn't say it -- I've testing IQ full time for 2 days though ... ;) )

That is now resolved

I guess we should. I can do my part, but that's me... Then there are all the others. And there are so many resolved bugs without any <RESOLVED> tags attached.

There's confusion because there are 2 places to check for requests, bugs, suggestions, etc. : here and Mantis. Maybe should I say "I". I'm often confused, and i takes some time to go through all the mantis stuff plus all the stuff here.

I think that  bugs/requests/suggestions/crash reports, should only be discussed here.
And if confirmed or seemingly serious enough, should ALL be put in Mantis. That is Pierre and our responsibility.
It's easy to see if something has been fixed just by looking at mantis. Much less in the forum.

It takes a bit of time (30s-1min to enter a bug in Mantis, when you're used to it), but it's worth it as it's easier to have an overview.
I don't know what others think.

makes sense, (& as Jan suggests, naming the version, in the forum post, with which the problem is)

Lately they've often been fixed very quickly after having been reported here - I think Pierre usually adds them to Mantis at that stage anyways though so not a problem

True...  :)

However, sometimes bugs are mot put in Mantis.

hmmmm...

Still having problems copying with the " Tab indented outline " option.

Anybody else ?

Can you detail what "problems" you've encountered ?

Sorry. I didn't know what was wrong exactly at that point --  there were other things grabbing my attention.

1- select 1 or more TLis

2- copy : " Tab indented outline "

3- paste in notepad ore anywhere else : nothing happens.

At least here on my machine, nothing happens.
Problem seems related to copying TLIs only.

I thought I was just confirming yours; your original report didn't mention TLI's.

In Hierarchy mode, if you:

1. Select a group of two or three adjacent, unexpanded items,
2. Copy
3. Click Tab Indented Outline at the prompt,

nothing will be copied to the clipboard. But is that a bug? If one or more of your items is expanded, and you select an item from a lower level, then your tree column outline will copy as expected. So the effect is that copying an outline requires some nested items. This could well be intentional.

(ok, from what you wrote before, that's not what I understood. I didn,t mention TLIs as I wasn't sure what was wrong at that point, as I explained)

If that's intentional i personally find it confusing and counter intuitive.

Confirmed and fixed in 0.9.25pre-rel17

Copy/paste still has problems.  At least on my machine. :(

This is MAJOR, again. My work is basically stalled (i need to copy past bunches of item)

- 1st problem

I'm currently trying real hard to copy an item :

1- Ctrl-c
2- IQ shows me the dialog to copy (sometimes... Not all the times)
3- I choose : Selected items : (In XML format, to make an exact copy of the items and paste it in an IQBase)
4- I paste... Nothing. No menu. Something seems to happen (mouse shows buzy status) but nothing gets pasted.

Now. I tried to paste the item after positioning the focus on a subitem. It works.

BUT it doesn't work when trying to paste as a TLI

Here's the XML of my copied TLI :

- 2nd problem

When it copies... it does it with character problems.

I'm getting a bit discouraged here... It's been a tough week ! Too frequently not being able to rely on copy paste, and + other unresolved inheritance, calculations, problems etc. is hard.

I havent had this problem Armando (but havent been copy/pasting much) - have only tried a couple of times here with my usual install
Version 0.9.25Pre-Rel16 build 2010-01-29 21:54:02
and my usual database

If I copy paste your xml stuff above I dont get any result. no matter where I try to paste it, but I dont know should it work like that anyways...

Copy / paste from one file to a different file had the following issue:
  • Item is not added to the current grid (if you check in the journal grid, it should be there)
I also added a confirmation message

Did you also see the other mentioned problem in my last posts (the one containing also 2 screenshots and mentionning the character  problem)? Just asking, because absolutely no new item was pasted in the DB when I pasted as described -- i.e. : yes, even in a Grid with no source, sorted by item created or IDitem, the pasted item doesn't appear.

I provided the XML as I didn't have that problem with a brand new DB.
