The default to-do grid has a done field and filter.  When I complete an item it takes 3 or 4 clicks to get the done field to fill with the current date.

Is there a way to use checkbox field when I complete item and then have some sort of macro object fill in current date to the done field?

Did you know double-clicking the done field will fill in the current date?

That sortof works - usually have to triple click.

Ctrl+M will add todays date to Done field for selected item (works every time here too!)

the double click thing requires four clicks here
1 to select field
2 to edit
3 & 4 to add date

I'm able to directly double click in the done field, and the date is there; that's why I mentioned it. My settings must be different

Thanks!

That is what I need to use Ctrl+M but for some reason it is not working.  Perhaps something I've done.  Keyboard is even better than using mouse and single click.

I'll improve this, to support a single double-click

You can also set the field of your choice to be the "Done" field (Field Management > is 'Done' field) and set an auto-assign rule to fill in the stock "done" field

Thanks - that is great.  Any suggestions on what I can do to debug the CTRL-M not working?  Other hotkeys that I have tried work fine.

Most likely, the shortcut was overritten. A few ideas:
  1. What is the shortcut assigned to Item > Mark as done (shown right of the menu entry) ?
  2. You can also try to re-assign CTRL-M to that menu item
  3. Can you assign another shortcut to it
  4. You can delete menu.dat (under apppath\users\yourname)

It looks like it was the "is Done" assignment.  Ctl-M is now working for me but I spent an hour going through every menu item and all of the Tools-Options items and I can't find where shortcut assignments are defined.  Can you enlighten me?

Thanks!

Customizing works the same way as in MS Office and is described here: -- link to nonexistent node ID 161 --
