I'm not sure what exactly you mean by a template.

When you say:

- do you mean you simply want to start with a blank slate so-to-speak?

 

Have you had a look at the manual ? (you can download it as a help file - under 'Documentation' on the left there - it's not yet integrated in IQ but much easier than going through it online)

If you were able to say in more detail what you want to do I or others could help or direct you to particular help pages.

 

Under

Menu: Options >Program Settings >Modes there are the the options to start with last file & with the last view (Grid) - last view currently only supports reopening one grid (tab)

So if you then close IQ with Grid2 from your screenshot open - it will restart the same way.

 

Creating a new grid or view (as you have done) -

Menu: View > Grids > New Grid and name it whatever you want

- there also an icon for Grids (yellow square, red shadow) in the standard toolbar which will show a list of all grids and a New Grid button & a Manage Grids button

I'll just add a couple words to Tom's advices.

 

To create a grid with only one column/field visible :

 

1- Click on the  "View" Menu, then "Grids", and finally "New Grid". (That's one way, there are others)

2- Type the name you want.

3- Your new grid will open with a set of columns, maybe just one. I haven't tried with the sample Data Base.

4- Remove or add the columns you want/don't want : click on the heading, and in the context menu, click on "Hide column" to remove it.

To add some, stiil in the column heading context menu : click on "Displayed columns". (you can also open the properties pane, view--> properties or press f4/shift-f4, and drag & drop the fields from the "available fields" section to the grid.

For automatically starting up your sample.SNDB, you could create a Windows shortcut

using text like this:

C:\IQ\InfoQube.exe /File:C:\IQ\Users\wyndham\sample.SNDB

 

(change folder name as appropriate)
